This description sums it up best:

"This is the AirDog I FP-100 fuel system for the 2001-2010 Chevy/GMC Duramax 6.6L. This diesel lift pump mounts to the frame rail using the supplied sandwich plate mounting system. This system utilizes the factory suction port in the fuel module for suction and plugs into the factory fuel line on the pressure side to supply fuel to the CP3 injection pump. The return is sent back to the tank through a filler neck tee. This is one of the easiest fuel systems to install. This is a 100GPH (Gallon Per Hour) lift pump system. Check out our installation manual for a list of parts that are included with this kit."

I actually had a 2007 Duramax LBZ back in the day. That was one of the only trucks that I really kicked myself for getting rid of. Mine was flawless. Give anything if I still had that truck today!!!

The one I picked up from Idaho, my dad thought it was an LBZ. Quickly I figured out it was a LMM.

Now, am trying to figure which truck to start building out:

    Tundra = blower; or
Duramax = delete, tune, slight lift, wheels

I've had my 2018 Ram 2500 Cummins for over a year now.

Been to the dealer twice, for a power folding mirror issue, then again when they installed the wrong mirror.

I've only put 8,900 miles on it.

Price on maintenance hasn't really been an issue personally (I don't drive very much). I put Amsoil fluids in diffs, engine and T-case myself and did Oil/Fuel Filter change. With that said fuel filters are about 120 bucks for the pair.

MPG Avg is about 18.6, went on a road trip (all flat driving) towing a 20' bass boat half the trip and over all avg was 22.8 MPG (hand calculated computer showed 23).

It's still stock except for Banks Diff Cover, Tint and AFE Intake Filter.

The thing about 2007+ diesel trucks is that the emissions equipment killed the fuel economy. Most of these HD diesel pickups now days are 15-17 MPG trucks empty, 10-13 MPG loaded heavy. If I'm going to get 11 MPG towing a large trailer, why use a diesel when a gas engine will do the same on less expensive fuel?

I just came from two diesel trucks to this Tundra. What is refreshing is that I no longer have to buy $45 oil filters, $40 fuel filters, jugs of DEF, $9/quart engine oil, etc. I also don't have a $10,000 Bosch fuel injection system to worry about. I don't have to wait in line at the one diesel pump when there's 8 gasoline pumps open. And I don't have to buy fuel that's $0.50/gallon more expensive anymore.

Diesel is cool, but 9 out of 10 people who own one don't need it and are spending more money to have it.

Some of the same reasons why I just went with the gasser. I'm getting 18 on the highway and 13 around the city and about 11/12 towing my 33ft trailer. Also I would have been paying $10k more for the diesel option if I went that route. The gasser fit my needs better but diesels do hold their value much better in the long run

The HD gassers are getting there. I love my 6.6L GMC. I have a couple times wished I purchased a diesel. But I was able to buy the truck and a dump trailer for the price of the diesel. Now it got me into a side business. Anyone looking at a HD truck don't shy away from testing out the gas engines

I just dont think these new diesels due to emissions regulating, perform as well as pre def diesels. My families 06 duramax is a beast. Gets 19-20mpgs highway and 15mpgs towing a 10k trailer.

The efficiency certainly isn't there, but they are ungodly powerful now - you tow something and you don't know if you have 2 quads back there or an apartment building. It would be awesome to delete a new one, but that sure is costly on top of the big premium to start with.

Deleting is actually pretty inexpensive (in comparison to replacing emissions parts), the tuner is the costly part. The cummins can be fully deleted for under 2k

My old boss just deleted his 2017 DuraMax. Is a freaking beast.

I am still researching on what to do with my 2007.5 DM LMM.

Kinda pointless to delete without a tune though, why start the process without finishing it to get all the efficiency gains (do you really need power gains anymore?)

You have to tune it if you remove any of the emissions parts to pass any inspections, not have a CEL and to run correctly too of course

I guess it depends on where you live. Diesel is not more expensive than 87 octane here. I never wait for fuel…then again I don’t go to the small stations that have 2 diesel pumps either.

    2C8594F5-0E5F-4A91-B3CD-FA8274B87DC8.jpg FCFF856F-1DBC-4F7F-98B9-9652174E48F2.jpg

My last fuel economy testing in the mountains….

    BADEC3C0-98ED-40C6-80F4-9CF50948C44B.jpg

Now make an apples to apple towing comparison. Let’s say 9k behind your tundra and 9 k behind a diesel. Tow the same route at the same speed and the gap will be a lot bigger. When I’m getting 11-13 mpg, the load is also 24-25k combined.

Embellished a little on the oil filters…most expensive OEM one was 19.00. My Duramax one is 10.00. Fuel filters on Ford and Ram are more...that's for sure. Great candidates for a FASS or AirDog lift pump.

Agreed on the Bosch fuel system (unless you have a newer DM, Denso injection system) and a good portion of people do no need diesels. Ask anyone that chat with me about what I recommend when purchasing a HD truck.

I don't think diesels hold better value. You pay 10K more at purchase. Here are two trucks, same year, similar mileage, Laramie package and what do you know...around 10,000 dollars difference in price.

Man those two trucks are great examples I guess your right. The 6.4 has been getting a lot more attention lately than it has in the past so I wonder if that has something to do with them holding their value a bit better. Here's hoping that my 21 holds a decent amount of value over the years even though I don't plan on selling it

I’m thinking about a travel trailer & I’m looking at gas 3/4 ton trucks. The new Ford 7.3 gas & GM’s 6.6 gas motors. We have 3 Ram 5500’s & dealing with the DEF system is terrible. Our company won’t let us delete them but we have numerous problems. At a 100k the Ram’s interior starts falling apart. Our trucks don’t just have 1 driver multiple people drive them. I will not be spending my money on any Rams, Dodge. Hell I’d rather push a GM or a Ford.

It’s been like that for a long time. Been having that argument for many years about diesel vs gas holding value.

If one can justify a diesel and afford it..great option. Most cases…not needed.

From someone that has a 6.6 gas motor, I think you will enjoy it. Also I would try to find a 3500 single rear wheel. Price difference from 2500 is a joke and you get 1k more lbs of payload. My GMC 3500 has 4286lbs payload for reference.

If you are going to be towing a lot. I think the best option and this is painful for me to say, it's the Ford 7.3L w/10spd and 4.30 gear. I picked GMC because I am biased and the Ford road like crap compared to the GMC independent front suspension. If I was towing in mountains or extreme weather I would get the Ford.

GM needs two make two changes. Bring back the 4.10 option and/or add at least an 8spd

I think it's crazy that they don't offer the 10 speed with the gas engine but GM always has to try to upsell folks. 24 gallon gas tank in the 1500s so you go to an HD if you're towing. 6 speed with the gas engine so you go to diesel...

GM was going to catch flak either way going 6 or 10 speed. A LOT of HD buyers do not want change. Heck going to 6.6 from the 6.0 bothered some people even though the 6.0 was so far behind the Ram and Ford offerings. So it was likely a smart move to keep existing customers by only changing the engine at this point, and save the 10 speed for the next couple years to introduce it.

    2021 2500 Custom
Long bed SLE 3500 with x31 off-road package and convenience package with 6.6 gas motor is $55k and well worth it. That’d be what I’d trade my custom for which was $48.5k for reference.
