Every hunting season I take a week off from work and go on a bird/deer hunting trip with my buddies. We rent a cabin and then use it as a base camp to hunt from.

These trips always take us into some pretty remote areas with our vehicles. The roads are often rough and we spend a lot of time driving around on them in 4 wheel drive.

Someone in our group usually brings a chainsaw for downed trees that block the roads we use.

This year I will be bringing the saw but do not want it to roll and bounce around in the bed of my truck. I was thinking of building a storage box to mount in my truck bed.

Have you guys or girls built or bought anything that solved this problem?

I have seen one online made from a tool box and one from a milk crate.

Any other ideas? Pictures would be appreciated

A simple plastic tote minus the lid with some water drainage holes should be adequate. If me, I would add a piece of chain and a padlock just to try and keep my investment. Even an old wet dirty towel or other camoflauge will help.

There are a lot of UTV/truck bed chainsaw mounts available. I just always strapped mine down in the hard case. Worked good.

I ended up buying the powerbox that Husqvarna sells. It was more economical then building what I wanted. Works pretty well but a little bulky. Holds the saw, wedges, fuel, bar oil etc.

I keep my saw in the hard case it came with and toss in a tool bag that has other wood cutting essentials like PPE, bar oil, fuel mix, sharpening file, hatchet, hand saw etc.
