Light Bar connected to Brights

I have installed a 30" and a 40" rigid light bars. Absolutely love them but was wondering if anyone had an idea how to wire the light bars to be turned on with bright lights? Basically i would like the brights to work normal for road use but turn the light bar switch to on, the bars would turn on when brights are activated. Has anyone tried this?

You just need to use a relay and have it wired up to a switch. I have not done it but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

30 to 12 volt power
85 to ground
86 hibeam trigger
87 output to switch

Thats what i thought. The pin numbers will be a huge help.

 

I think they are the correct pinouts but I don't have one in front of me hopefully someone can correct me if I'm wrong. Just make sure you put some fuses inline and you should have no problems.

 

When I installed my 40" NSV auto hood bulge lightbar they have specific directions on the wire to tie into for this feature. I used t taps and connected into a wire thats located behind the steering wheel column. Let me get the instructions and post them.

 

Yes. The only way my upper hood bulge lightbar works is if the high beams are activated. They did it this way for a safety feature.

 

Flashing your high beams does not trigger the lightbar either. You have to have your high beams turned completely on.

 

It's more involved than I previously remembered to do this. The lightbar I installed has plugs and harnesses made to plug into the stock harness in the steering column. Here are the photos Incase you want to try this.
