    Do you need the seats?

I believe double cab has underseat storage and will take up room if you have the seats up.

Crew max doesn't have under seat storage. So there will be more floor space with the seats up.

Thanks Tim. No, I probably could pull back seats, if easy to remove and put back in if needed. I'm trying to get more info on the rear seating for double and crew max seating in back. Are they all the same - one bench or split or other options? Also looking if there are premium seats that may hold up better in front. I'm looking to buy used 2012-18 Tundra and hate to get something with a sagging driver seat. I saw some nice options with 1794 and Platinum options.... but unsure if seating options also available on base SR5. I'm still figuring out the model options and staring out looking for general brochures for each year. Thinking about purchasing with Carvana, as want to get a Tundra from a sunny climate, without salt like here in Chicago. Crazy buying sight unseen, but with flexible return option and doing a detailed carmax check at least I can find something from a good climate, better than Chicago with salt used on roads in winter. Rust always an issue for any used vehicle here and I drive my cars a long time, always 200K miles.

Not sure on seating from 2nd gen to 2.5 gen. But most of the seats are the same sizes and should be able to swap out if wanting to. 07-13 should all be same size and interchangeable. Same with 14-21. Front seats are captain chairs or bench seating. Not sure on the bench seating for front as mine are the captain chairs. Back is 60/40 split. I removed mine and put in a platform for my dogs. I did it 60/40 so I can put a seat section back in if needed. Very easy to remove and add. 47624.jpg 20200809_121345.jpg

Nice! Perhaps some room underneath for storage if you left it in place? The dogs definitely like a solid raised footing, compared to a padded seat. My Lexus RX300 has a nice solid rear when folded and with change to a Tundra, I need to plan for their comfort/safety. Hopefully, good AC and airflow for your setup with the three dogs? My RX300 didn't have good rear AC and when 90 deg + and windows up, it was a bit hot for them.

One more item to share with the group. We have two large labs and for long trips, I remove the backseat and put their beds in there. They have more room than we do! Ideal set up for them!

    Thanks CookieMonsterTundra,
Is your rear seating Crew Max or DoubleCab size? I'm trying to figure out how much overall space between the two when seats are out. I'm thinking about removing seats, making a custom wood platform with storage underneath, or at least do it on one side if a split fold up seat option. For max room however, removing seats probably the way to go.

With your 1794 are the front seats physically much different, or seat covering the only difference? I would like a nice stiff seat that won't be susceptible to sagging on one side in years to come. I'm looking to buy a 2014-18 Tundra and being a big guy, nothing I hate more than that lagging to the door side seat, I have had with a few of my cars in the past. My recent Lexus' SUV and sedan seats are great however, but probably not expected for all vehicles....especially newer which seem to be made cheaper and cheaper every year.

Currently there is some room in the foot well under the platform for storage. This was a rough draft basically. Next will had a little height for more underneath storage and add a wall with gun rack to keep them in the back securely without being able to get on center console while I am driving.

The difference will be 1 foot. Same frame. Difference from DC and CM is DC has 1 foot less cab space, 1 foot more bed space.

Beautiful dog, english one? I know you're a good guy because you love your dog! I have a golden R but at the end of November should have a new fox red lab pup too, dad is english. Puppies eeeeeesh.

I do the hammock deal in the back, it's ok. He's old so it's a bit unstable for him. Your build a lot better.

Who knew you could get 3 labs in the back seat of a Tundra. Mine ride on the seat in a "custom" sling.

I love that fox red lab! My dad has my labs brother, a fox red. Just a cool color. Bad pic of him, but only one I got on my phone currently. He's 110lb! Solid dog. 20210704_211305.jpg

Good looking pups you got. No preference for me, black just worked out because of the personality I chose out of the litters. If dad wouldn't have chose his lab, I probably would have picked him. They are related to my oldest lab. Third lab was a rescue I picked up. He was malnourished and neglected, just happened to be a black lab. So now I have 3 lol

We use one of these things from Amazon for our 60 pound, pure bred, Arkansas mutt. It's easy to put in and take out and works well. She can lie down and relax or sit up and see out. It comes with a tether that goes through it and clips into a seat belt because she's ill mannered and would be up front with us if allowed.

The rear seat in the Tundra is pretty big. Our 140lb Great Pyrenees used to lay back there without any problems. He was old, so getting him in and out of the truck was a problem. Anyway, the wife sewed up some covers for the leather seat - bottom, back, headrests, and door panels.

Our current mutt (a energetic 70lb Southern Black Mouth Cur) prefers to lay on couches (something he learned snuggling next to me), so you couldn't get him off that seat to lay anywhere else. Now fully grown, he's still my baby.

I made my own sling out of a heavy duty tarp. Mud River makes a fairly decent cover and sling.

i once bought speakers from the back of a sketchy van for 2x the price I should have paid. Your dog hammock purchase has nothing on that.

I use cheap Wen moving blankets off Amazon. When they get too torn up or nasty I slap in a new one and use the old one for other stuff. The back seat is cavernous compared to the Taco this truck replaced so the dog thinks it's great! 20240201_101412.jpg
Have to keep the back seat available for the occasional humans... lol.
