I dunno, I heard of 3 welded nuts breaking off this week alone. Granted all were not oil pans. Welding done right should be stronger than the material around it. Just my 2 cents.

F133, N variant has a long nipple, S variant has a short nipple.

    Good luck brother.

Have not read this whole thread. I lost a Jeep TJ oil pan the same way. Oil change guy had been air wrenching the plug and broke loose the bung, which was simply pinch folded in place. We put in a new pan.

Sorry, I should have explained that in my post. It comes in a tube like rtv (silicon sealant). I used the Toyota stuff but some people use other brands or just plain Permatex silicon.

Just make sure it is clean and you get all the oil residue off. I installed an F133s when I put the new pan on and have been happy with it.

I hope the dealership will help out on the cost but I would not hold my breath that they will cover it all. Which is unfortunate.

If you encounter an issue with Toyota not wanting to cover this, have the threads tack welded to the pan so that they can verify that you did not over torque the drain valve. The threaded insert should be able to take much more than the recommended torque value being that this is a maintenance item.

11am oil pan is off now.

looks like the bung nut is cracked. Got my fumoto valve out and now I’m confused as my regular drain bolt tightens up correctly despite the crack. The fumoto valve threads are definitely stripped

Perhaps you cross threaded the Fumoto valve?

The bung cracked which then allowed it to open up slightly when torquing your Fumoto valve down. Since the Fumoto valve is brass, the steel bung took the majority of the brass threads off.

As inconvenient as it is, this is why I've always done my own oil changes twice a year even if it 40 degrees outside. Hope it all works out for you.

That sucks OP! Hope it works out for you. I had a similar issue when installing one in my old 2017 4RUNNER. Luckily in my case the minute I head an odd crack noise I stopped and was able to slowly back it out with some pliers.

If the truck were towed to them with the brass valve spinning in the bung, I think you would of had a case that something brass and hollow on the inside would not have broken that. But who knows, they might of tried to get out of paying even if they thought so too.
I had this happen too on the red car in my avatar. Unfortunately there is no clearance to remove the pan with the engine in place so it was a project to repair it.
Good luck with getting it fixed!

F65A85B2-E059-4E98-93B5-5F092FF7A0F3.jpg Update, the dealer I went to, service manager wouldn’t touch it with a 10ft pole. Picked up my part and the liquid gasket. $280

so to my surprise there is a notch in the threads. See photo. So it’s possible that their is not a crack in it, though threads still look damaged. Regardless crappy results no matter what.

notch is there to allow additional oil to drain? Sounds like you may have used the wrong threaded valve also. I would double check your part numbers

I don’t thinks so, I’m sure some super smart engineer put it there for some reason. There was still almost a quart of oil in the pan when I dropped it… which almost entirely ended up on me. Lol

If your pan bung is not cracked, I second that they sent you the wrong valve.

When you get a new Fumoto valve I would compare the threads major OD and thread pitch with the OEM plug. The simplest way to verify the thread pitch is to lay both threads together. The 60° thread forms should fit exactly with each other. For the major OD, calipers would be best but a scale or tape measure would be good enough.

Given the original drain plug came out without any reported issues or visual concerns and the bung nut is still attached, sounds more like a DIYer issue than a Toyota issue. Sorry this happened.

I checked my Fumoto order on Amazon and, as Rodtheviking noted, I’m showing a B27 valve. The very last bullet is kinda funny although I know too soon....

This would be my guess since the collar of the nut would leave some oil still in the pan when draining. Something seems off with the Fumoto, either wrong part or a manufacturing defect.

just stick to the original drain plug lol. fumoto is nice and convenient and you save 30 seconds but that's it. if you're trying to do an oil change on a fleet of tundra's, sure use fumoto. but it's just DIY why the rush? that's just my thinking.

It's for the cleanliness not the speed. I can pop a hose on the valve and drain it with no spills or mess. The oil change when I installed the valve wound up spilling oil on top of my RCI skid because once the flow slowed down it ran down the curve of the pan and dribbled all over the skid.

The pan on my 08 had the notch too. I figured it was to let more of the oil the oil drain.

Are the threads in the original pan still good? Also, when I put my Fumoto valve in I noticed that the torque is different. I started to torque it to the original Toyota spec and it seemed like it was going to be too much… so then I read the directions that came with the valve. I don’t remember exactly what it said but it was something like a 1/4 turn with a wrench after hand tight.

Here is my pan with the same notch.

Yeah, I was not happy. Couple that with the oil down the arm popping the plastic nozzle into the filter housing, and I am way happy with the Fumoto valve and Jowett housing.
