Does Tundra / Toyota use soy based wiring and is it an issue with rodents and pests?

I live in AZ and pack rats here are a BIG deal and they love to chew on vehicle wires, or at leat the wire coatings. Many of the issues stem from soy based wire coatings. Did Toyota change what they use at any time or have you had any issues. I think Toyota even made a capsicum based tape at one time?

    Too many, but not enough....
Its soy based. Use Honda's rodent tape if you are concerned and put cotton balls soaked in peppermint oil in the engine bay. The best defense would be parking in the garage or get a cat.

Yes they do, I believe all automakers use soy based insulation now.

All the rats I talked to said “10/10 would eat Tundra wires again.”

I hide mouse and rat poison in my garage and in very small spaces outside around my vehicles that my dog and the neighbor’s cat can’t reach into. Seems to work ok for me.

Keep in mind though that the mouse and rat poison, while it does kill those rodents, it also takes a toll on other wildlife. Hawks, owls and other larger prey animals will eat these rodents and can get sick and die from it as well.

Traps or deterrents would be a better option to go with. Just my .02

I think most of this problem is related to the trucks / cars built within the first hour after lunch break…. Corn chip dust, cheese burger grease on everyone’s hands.......:notsure:...:der::der:.....:crapstorm:

I'm not a big fan of poisoning mice for the simple and selfish reason that I can't stand the dead mouse smell, and have better things to do than tear my basement and garage apart looking for the stinky little bastage.

I use glue traps, Irish spring soap, and peppermint oil to try and fend the mice off at probable entry points.

I also use a couple of 5 gallon pail traps in the yard. 17 mice and 7 chipmunks in the last two months...
