Hey everyone - thanks for stopping by! This won't be too wild of a "build" as I simply wanted to have a place to document my journey with this truck. I just took delivery of my 2021 Limited TRD O/R Crewmax in Cement Grey. This is my first truck, let alone my first Tundra – upgrading from the VW scene.

    upload_2021-10-11_0-1-59.png

Really excited to be joining another enthusiast community that is so well rounded and thorough….Also extremely happy that the forum still exists – it’s a damn shame how many forums have come and gone with the Facebook group era.

A little back story on how I wound up in a Tundra - I went to a Ram dealership to buy a 1500 Laramie and they sold it 20 minutes before I showed up for my appointment. I walked next door to Toyota and the rest is history.

I will say, I originally went in to buy a TRD Pro but they threw a $5k market adjustment on top of the $58k price tag and I just couldnt justify it. So, I put a deposit down on 9/4 on a Limited and took delivery exactly 1 month later on 10/4.

    I paid sticker @ $52,187.00

    upload_2021-10-11_0-2-30.jpg

The day I picked it up at the dealership:
    upload_2021-10-11_0-3-2.png

Took delivery with 1 mile on it as they didn’t take it to put gas in it. (which I didn't mind) Lol

    upload_2021-10-11_0-3-46.png

After I brought her home (and put some gas in it, lol):

    upload_2021-10-11_0-3-58.png

My goal with this truck is to modify it with an OEM+ type of vibe (aside from wheels and tires). This is my daily and family chariot (2yr old daughter and 1 on the way) so lifting it to the sky just doesn't make sense for my situation.

    Well - here we go:

Just got it tinted – XPEL t20% on all windows aside from windshield.
    upload_2021-10-11_0-4-28.png

    In progress:
    Method 18x9 +25 MR305 NV w/ 275/70/R18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers – getting delivered 10/11
TruXedo Lo Pro Tonneau cover – ordered – should be here before end of the week

    Future plans:
    TRD Rear Sway bar
    TRD cat-back exhaust
    K&N Drop-in filter
LED interior, reverse, and license plate lights
    Upgrade running boards (stills shopping)
    Swing case or something similar
    Lamin-x fogs

    Undecided:
    6112 shocks
Color matched front (grill surrounds, bulge, + front bumper edges)

Going to have them checked for balancing (have seen some less than stellar posts about unbalanced wheels received from CustomOffsets lately), mounted, and alignment done on Wednesday.

I retained all of my mud flaps, did no fender push mod, and I don’t rub. Even tested full-lock reverse ‍♂️ I swore I’d rub a little but nothing. haha

Congrats on the new Tundra—looking good. Ram dealership did you a favor…I still can’t understand how they can “update” the truck and get rave reviews for best interior, when they haven’t figured out how to remove the hump in the front passenger footwell. I can’t sit with my legs straight out as a front passenger with my feet flat when I get in one. Been that way since it was a Dodge

No shit haha Obviously I only sat in the driver seat. I won't lie, the interior was pretty effing nice but did not see that BS on the passenger side. Can imagine any passenger would feel annoyed with that.

So I test drove two Rams:
1.) 1500 Laramie Nightshade Edition which had a sticker of $63K (I wanted white which they sold from under me but got to test drive a Maroon one)
2.) 2500 Laramie Diesel which had a sticker of $73K

The diesel was awesome but I couldnt justify the monthly payment based on that I have zero use for a diesel motor. While the interiors were nice, I don't think they justified $10-$20K more than the Tundra price.

About 1000 miles into the truck and loving every minute of ownership. Even "mistakenly" got her muddy. Only issues so far are sorting out TPMS errors from new wheels w/ new sensors. I have an appt. at the dealership next week to hopefully get them reprogrammed.

    Couple of updates:
1.) Bought this 108QT Plano storage trunk for $50 from Amazon. I am somewhat of a "disaster" planner and I am slowly building out a kit for this truck. This case has some basics: breaker bar, torque wrench, extra lugs, couplers, duct tape, electrical tape, a first aid kit, case of water, extra set of gloves, and a tarp (not pictured). I also have a small tool box in the truck that has my ratchet straps, bungees, flares, and zip ties).
2.) Also bought a set of DD SS3 Pro LED Fogs in yellow

Still no fogs installed yet. Hopefully this week.

In other news - took the truck to the dealer for the TPMS issue and it turned out exactly what research on here showed - aftermarket TPMS sensors don’t work in the 2021 trucks. The service rep at the dealership said they have seen OEM sensors also not work in aftermarket wheels hence why they didn’t try to sell me on them. Oh well. I am done trying to get the system to work at this point.

Also picked up this neat sticker

im curios to see how my 2010 20" TPMS sensors work with the Land Cruiser wheels that are 18"..... we will see how that goes next week after my lift gets installed.

Anyways, sweet build man. Super simple with some tasteful mods and a sweet little tool collection in the back.

Thanks! Hopefully everything works smoothly for you. From what I've read, it seems like some of the TPMS headaches are newer model issues ('20-21).

I would think in due time the aftermarket world should figure out the TPMS thing, keep the faith!

agreed! in the mean-time, old school tire pressure checker is in the truck. I just hate the dash light in addition to all of the lights already on in the dash from the factory. I got out of the German car scene to get away from dash lights and here we are.....LOL

Finally got around to installing LED lights and DD SS3 fogs.

Did the VLED Cargo and license plate lights. Huge difference.

The fog install was pretty straight forward and easy. I did break a tab on each side on the liner bracket where it meets the bumper…super annoying but was able to get it back together. I tried finessing it but still broke it.

Had the truck ceramic coated this week.

Super happy with how it turned out. We had some shitty / crazy rain this morning and it is still shiny as can be.

Been back and forth on what's next for this thing. Before I got the truck, I swore I was going to do a chrome delete but I'd be lying if I didn't say it grew on me. Additionally, some of the color matched items I've seen for cement don't always match and that would drive me crazy for how expensive it is to do.

Here is what I think I'll do next in the near future:
1.) LED reverse lights and in cab lights
    2.) TRD rear sway
3.) Fluid film under the truck (thanks @MotoTundra for the recommendation)
4.) Empire Off-road side bed Molle system

    In the distant future
1.) New running boards. I would love to keep the brushed+black combo in whatever is next but there aren't many options that provide that. We'll see though.
    2.) TRD Pro Exhaust
    3.) Full LED tail-lights

That shine looks great! Your truck looks awesome.

Funny you say that, I just sprayed my vehicles Thursday with Fluid Film.

You’re going to love the way your truck handles after you install the TRD rear sway bar.

Been really enjoying the truck - little over 2000 miles on it now

Scuffed / curbed the shit out of one the wheels like a complete asshole. Guess it was karma for being lazy and going through a Dunkin drive though lol

That being said, I needed to buy a full size spare so this was a good reason to accelerate that purchase. Just waiting on a tire and then will mount - swap out.

Little over 3k miles now. I sound like a broken record but am really pleased with this truck. Gas mileage really hasn’t been as bad as I thought - mixed use averaging 12/13mpg. Got these fog lights adjusted as well - they are perfect now and no one flashes me anymore lol

Also - was slightly concerned on these tires would perform in the snow after reading mixed reviews. So far so good in both light snow and icy conditions in 4H. Truck felt stable accelerating, stopping, and turning. In 2wD it definitely spun / slipped though.

My only complaint is this Power Steering recall. My VIN falls within the possible faulty seals and every time I get in the truck, I am worried it’s going to blow. I called my dealership and Toyota Customer Care for an update and still nothing at this point. Hopefully I can make it to a remedy!

I felt exactly the same way about the chrome. Now I actually like the chrome better with cement or lunar rock. It just seems to look more rich and not plastic like.

4K in now. truck has done everything I've asked of it. no complaints.

had the truck checked by the dealership for power steering recall - took 3 hours for them to look at it and it was the first truck in at the dealership for the recall...luckily, it's not affected.

I am starting to get the itch for mods again - some new things will happen this spring.

I've lived in PA for most of my life by my god, I feel like the are over the top w/ the salt this year. Felt good to get the truck washed down today. Ceramic coating really enables a shine with just a wash. It's awesome .
