Ladies and gentlemen, I just pulled the windshield and hood cowl this morning and put a hardware cloth screen over the cabin air intake. The hole is about 2"x10" or so, very easy for rodent entry. Not taking any chances here. I used 1/4" harware cloth and self drilling screws to mount it. Give yourself a couple of hours.

Tough to chew through two layers of steel wire, and grown rats can't fit in the spaces leading to the hole.

How difficult is it to pull the hood cowl? I need to do something like this.

A mouse would go thru that without slowing down. You need a fine screen

Perhaps you don't know what hardware cloth is. It is a steel mesh screen of 1/4" squares made out of steel wire. I could stand on top of it if it was anchored over an opening.

This. a mouse or rat is not crawling through 1/4" hardware cloth. Exact reason people use that on coups for quail or even chickens.

What’s the tool he uses to remove the wiper blades after undoing the bolt? Looks like some sort of clamp?

Just so you know it can be done without doing all that, just pop up the pass. Side and stick something in there to hold it open while you work.

I did exactly this on my 08 Tundra, never had a mouse problem again.
