SuperSprings International was running a sale on Toyota SumoSprings. I ordered a set of the blue springs, rated for 1000lbs. They were back ordered and took about two weeks to arrive. Install was pretty easy. The one thing I noticed is the mounting brackets are thicker than the factory bump stop bracket and I barely have one extra thread showing on my u bolts. I ordered a set of 7.75” U Bolts from Wheelers and will be replacing them. Stock is 6.75”. I’m not worried about 1” hanging down since the extent of my off pavement adventures are dirt and gravel forest and BLM roads.

I tow an Escape 19 with a dry weight of 3800lbs and a max weight of 5000lbs. I believe the trailer is pretty tongue heavy. On this last trip I weighed on an DOT scale that was open so I didn’t have a chance to unhook and weigh without the trailer. Pic below shows loaded with the SumoSprings installed. Front axle 3450, rear axle 3550, and trailer axle 3750. I estimate I had about 500lbs of people and gear in the truck. 20 gallons of water, food, clothing, bike rack, etc on the trailer. As you can see I only had 1” of squat loaded at 7000lb gross on the truck. Trailer is level, slope makes it seem like it isn’t it. I use a 3” B&W Tow and Stow flipped up since the trailer has a 2” body lift.

Prior to this trip I had about 1000 miles of towing. We camped at Cape Lookout State Park on the Oregon Coast and came across HWY 6. Anyone who has driven 6 knows it’s terrible with dips, ruts, sunken grades, and rough pavement. It may be the roughest highway in Oregon. The SumoSprings were awesome. The ride was smooth and controlled. Body roll was reduced. With the truck unloaded the ride is the same as stock with the exception bottoming out the rear isn’t as harsh.

SuperSprings will customize a set of SumoSprings for those who are lifted. Down the road I will be doing a mild lift with Coachbuilder shackles. At that time I’ll measure and order a second set of SumoSprings for towing and use the current ones for bumps. Easy to swap out, just unscrew them.

Agree 100%! I love the sumo blues when towing, so much more solid feeling.

When you get the bigger set, consider cutting the bump ones down a hair. I really enjoy having 2 sets to swap

Stock U Bolts are 6.75” long and in my opinion probably too short for Sumo Springs.

I ordered a set of 7.75” U Bolts from Wheeler’s Off-road for $47 shipped. Much more thread showing and it’s always a good idea to replace them anyways. Well worth it for the piece of mind.

Great review guys. I got a lifted tundra with a 2" in the rear and 3" in the front. I noticed that there's a lifted set on their website but is that really needed?

I just have a leveling kit at the moment but I plan on going with some bilstein 5100s.

It is a 2" lift from the leveling kit.

It depends how much you'll be towing or hauling. If it will be a fair amount of the time then I would say go for it depending upon the additional length that the lifted springs provide in relation to your lift. If you are not towing or hauling that much then stick with the stock height ones or it'll be a rougher ride with the rear unloaded. I have similar lift heights to you and I stuck with stock since I only occasionally tow or haul and I'm real happy with them.

If its a 2 inch block, you can use the sumo out of the box

if its a shackle or addaleaf, you may need spacer pucks under the sumo
