Anyone have a Losi SBR 2.0? I’m having an issue with my battery tray release getting stuck when I run the truck in sand. The release lever gets sand stuck in it and you have to use a screw driver to pry the release lever open. The place where I bought it says it’s normal. Doesn’t seem right to me.

I have the little Baja Rey. Mine is a bitch half the time to latch and unlatch the battery tray too, idk if they're the same design though.

looks they’re both bottom load so probably similar. I can’t believe they would design it like that. Took me 20 minutes to change batteries after my first run because all the sand jammed up the release lever. Feel like I should have bought the UDR instead.

Aarma has a strange design around the steering servo that allows rocks in. We learned to put tape over all the holes. Fixed. Could you put some duct tape across the latch and seal it while driving?

the latch/ lever is on the back of the chassis and it pulls out slightly to release the door. I don’t think I could tape it. I will try taping the battery door to see if that helps. Thx @Hbjeff

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good first RC car for me and my son? He is 3 years old and loves monster trucks and I would love to start a hobby with him this early. Something not too expensive and durable would be great! Appreciate any advice.

I would like to keep it under $200, ideally around $100.

This right here usually goes on sale for $69 on Black Friday. It’s a great car to learn on. I got one for my 5 year old son and loved it until it went up in smoke lol. It comes with a battery but we where running a 2s lipo battery to make it run faster. Now it’s getting a full upgrade and will be a lot faster. New motor, esc, and steering servo.

That looks pretty perfect. I will watch for the sale on this. So the price is just for the car frame not including the battery, charger or the body correct?

No no it’s for everything, body-battery charger-battery- remote control. It will be ready to run. Just a heads up the battery it comes with takes a loooooonng time to charge l. So might want to pick up a second one or lipo battery and charger.

How do you like that thing? I have nothing but slash for me and my kids but have been eyeing the maxx or an xmaxx. Not sure how I feel about having to run 8s on the xmaxx and then the size compared to the slash. Last thing is justifying the price tag for the car and the batteries

I love the Xmaxx. It is a massive rc truck! And it wants to let loose so you need good space to run it (like a field vs a backyard). If you get the Traxxas starter pack with the 4s batteries and 4s charger, it's the best overall price. And that is Traxxas' best charger so it benefits you with the Slash if you're running Traxxas batteries in that. Overall it works as my truck while my kids drive a Summit and a 1/16 Summit that I modified for steel axels.
To sum: if you have enough open space to run the Xmaxx, it is an incredible RC truck and worth every penny. If you have limited space, go with the Maxx, or smaller scale. You can also run the Xmaxx 6s (2 X 3s). If you have those batteries already, it will be more manageable if you have limited space. This will save about $400 without the 8s starter pack.

Been playing with RC cars my whole life. Currently have a slash platinum, stampede 4x4 VXL, Axial AX10 and some Team associated brushless on road car.

Selling those 4 to fund the Xmaxx I just bought. This thing handles like it’s on rails, soaks up all the bumps. I’ve never driven anything like it. 10/10 recommend if you have the space.

That dude in the picture gets 50-60 percent of his exercise chasing RC cars.

I’m near Durham NC. Really just bashing and keeping my pup exercised.

I found one on marketplace today with some accessories that needs a body and the diffs rebuilt, also needs the outdrives replaced. 29.6 volts is hard on equipment. But worth it!

I found one on marketplace a few days ago that needed some work. Guy was asking $700 but the body was destroyed and it had a lot of play in the diff, a closer look showed it was just okay in the outdrives. Got a proline brute indestructible body for it and the mount kit today. Guy let me have the X-maxx, an extra set of tires, the upgraded 26a traxxas double charger, and a single 6700mah battery.

I looked it over and drove it and told him I didn’t want to hurt his feelings and roughly what the fixes would cost.

Dude asked if I would take it for $500. That was cheap enough I had to have it.

If it’s in decent shape that’s not bad. Just the batteries are $280 assuming they still work well.

Nice! I need to order a new slipper clutch so I can put mine back in service. I haven't ran it in a while. I have a Slash that I haven't ran in a couple of years as well.
