Agreed. 2 tips I saw that really helped.

First, make sure the box is closer to the door than you think. The screw hole for the old box is a good guide. I'd say the box needs to be ~1 inch from it or so.

Second, once the seat is in place, sit on it, then get off and thread in the rear passenger side bolt first by hand. Then tighten it down to barely tight. Then do the driver rear bolt next, same way. Then the other 2 front bolts. Once they are all hand tight, then torque them in the same order.

    Flush seat....done.

Just got my sub installed and it sounds awesome with the amp through James! I had originally recieved a damaged sub from him, (not his fault, UPS treated it like Ace Ventura) and he was quick to send out a replacement. Thanks again James for the group buy discount and pudge for assisting him with notifying all of us.

Finally got around to installing my new sub, following Flying Dave’s instructions. Definitely an improvement over the stock sub and well worth the money!

It's really a solid bang for your buck. Some people have asked me if they add an amp to the stock sub, or changing the sub for another 8", or changing headunit will improve the bass in their truck. I really can't imagine any of that can be done for $200 and certainly won't sound as good as it does with this sub and box. I was shocked when I finished my install.

Definitely best bang for the buck so far. But now after replacing the rest of the speaker, and the head unit, and adding an amp, I’m think of either upgrading this sub, or adding another...

I finally got a chance to install this box along with the Infinity amp James sold me.

This box does not disappoint and neither does James. This man knows his stuff. I had a question about the install on a non-JBL system and he was very responsive to my email.

Bottom line, his prices and excellent customer service has won a customer for the long haul. I’m going to buy everything for my audio needs from him.

    Thanks again!

So, I believe the consensus on this post is the Blue wire is positive and the white wire is negative. I actually have been needing the positive and negative wires for the front tweeters, So I went to my Dealership service and they pulled up the wire schematic for me and gave the colors. Also I was curious about the subwoofer since I have this replacement as well. We looked it up and the white wire is positive and blue is negative.

2 ohms for 2020 JBL.. I feel I’m gonna need a separate amp for the sub, it’s a little better than the stock sub, but... and I’m sure it’s capable of so much more.

I know this is a year old thread... I’m thinking of buying one of these subs for my 2020 Trd Pro (My 2010 Tacoma JBL stereo sound better than this Tundra JBL system!)
For those that bought just the sub upgrade with JBL system have you felt the need to upgrade anything else since replacing the sub??

You’ll want to upgrade the amp for sure.

I had just the sun and speakers which was great, but it needed the amp to make it even better

Floating this thread back up to the TOP!

I love the idea of a $200 drop in replacement to bring the sound up from ~junk. That said, I also don't want to spend $200 if I am going to want to improve later. Buy once, cry once they say. Although, I'm not looking to dump a bunch of dough after buying a `21 Platinum.

Is it worth it? And is it good enough to not want more?

If you don’t plan to do anything else to the system this setup is perfect. It addresses the main deficiency of the factory JBL system (severe lack of bass). If you plan to do more, i.e. full speaker/amp replacement the box here is good but James can build you something more substantial.

I sent James a message on Facebook and he replied the blue is positive and the white is negative so your last post is correct. That was how I had it hooked up. Works fine. Sub is an improvement over factory for sure. You can really tell the difference on better input. I have a lot of music from my computer that was downloaded here and there at different compression ratios and some sounds a lot better than others. I imagine if I still had XM it would sound better too. The factory system still lacks balls though. But that will have to be addressed at a later date.

Resurrecting an older thread with lots of info. I received mine today and had installed in 1/2 hour max. This thread was very helpful and made it very easy with no guess work. I put the seat on a small piece of 2x4 to eliminate poking the floor. James said that some 2021’s may have a smaller amp and the difference between oem and the new enclosure may not be very noticeable. I took a gamble and and while I have played with the settings a lot, it does seem to sound better with a little more punch. I’ll play around with it more tomorrow on a 2hr road trip. James was easy to work with and his communication was top notch. No issues with my seat lining up either.
