Yep that's my experience with them as well. I had to pro gun so I just used the regular viscosity version for all the doors and panels (if you do it in the summer it runs into every crevice just fine) or heat up before applying with a hot plate or a propane heater and the HV grease they make now for the high wash areas is great, that stuff actually has lasted a whole year so far in the areas where the regular stuff washed off throughout the year.

Agreed, if money is no option this guy is the pinnacle of rust protection (link below). I was going to drive up and get my truck done when new but he usually likes to have it for 2 days. Understandable but that becomes a hassle from Calgary. I ended up doing it myself with Cosmoline. He said his product works well with Cosmoline (looks really similar) so in the future, I might go there if I feel flush and can figure out 2 days in Edmonton.

For many many years I used a cheap shunt gun that would just kind of spew out the Fluid Film, Woolwax, or Krown. I upgraded a couple years ago to a good spray gun from Woolwax and was blown away. It was like a giant pair of curtains parted. Who knew an undercoating gun could make a guy so happy.

yep especially for getting inside the doors and frame members with the 360 degree nozzle. made the whole process a lot easier.

I washed the underside the other day and it was +30 today, so we did the undercoat.

Son and I put it on our DIY made ramp, filled up our cheap basic gun (CF brand) and filled it up with Corrosion Free and sprayed away.

It wad our first attempt at a project like this but it sees to go well. I'm sure we didn't get every nook and cranny and didn't spray inside doors etc.....but it looks pretty good to us schmoes. The basic gun and my 20y old air pancake compressor worked fine at 80psi for applying, went on even, not clumpy.

We tried to avoid the exhaust, brakes, transmission, high heat areas etc. I'll buy an aerosol can to touch up any spots we missed. We have some extra in the jug to apply when we swap to our RCI Slid plate (hopefully this weekend).

Purchased late 2019, so approaching it's 3rd winter. Some minor rust in a few places, but it's expected in our climate.

Are there any negatives to using a product like ‘corrosion free rust cure 3000’?

Looking at spraying it on the undercarriage, seeing as I’m planning on keeping the truck for quite some time, there isn’t a huge salt presence on my local roads, but figured it can’t hurt, right?

also, what spray guns are you all using? They make a simple siphon fed gun that they sell as a kit with the product, but also a crazy expensive gun with wands and what not (and it atomizes the mixture), any thoughts?

    thanks

Kroon caused swelling and rippling on the gaskets on the bottoms of my doors. Maybe too much was applied when they drilled the holes. Might be fine if you wipe off the excess. I can’t see the need for rustproofing in that area (above the wells). It was a small price to pay living in one of the salt capitals of the world.

Just did my truck. Used the remaining from last year and a can of Rust check from princess auto get to into some right spots.

I think I'm going to upgrade my gun for next year.

    Woolwax gun vs CorrosionFree gun?

Anyone have any experience with the CF gun? Reviews are mixed, many staying it isn't worth the $$$.

I'd like something to be able to get in tight spots that the standard gun can't.

I have the woolwax pro gun and I’m very glad I paid a little extra to get a nice-ish setup. Makes applying it every year very simple and actually a pleasant experience.
It’s easy to setup, use, and obtain the finished result that you’d expect, and the wands are great.

NH Oil here, do it around this time every year. In the salt belt of the Northeast US. 2018 Tundra, undercarriage still looks new.

I just made an appointment for NH oil. Looking to keep m recently purchased Tundra Crewmax, from Colorado, as rust free as it is now. Living in Pa. right by Lake Erie we get a serious winter up here. Oh yea last year the state spread 807000 tons, yes tons of road salt/brine.

Late to this party also. Sorry

I’ve never rust proofed a vehicle. I’d like to rust proof the Tundra when it arrives and maybe do our 2017 Prius. The research I’ve done seems to indicate that a regular oil spray is best and that Corrosion Free is the most effective. However, the quality of the application can significantly affect the effectiveness of the product and unfortunately it looks like only Canadian Tire uses Corrosion Free around my area (Waterloo Region).

I did find an independent rustproof, ppf & detail shop in Newmarket that used corrosion free. Pretty small operation though, and did do the warranty submission after applying. I got mine done there as I couldn’t find anywhere else at the time ( late fall) I am unsure of the quality of the application though. But needed something before winter. & was around corner from in-laws so tied it in with a visit.
Apparently some crappy tire shops actually will / do application as part of their business. Fwiw.

Cannot find anything at that price in Calgary. Just did 3M PPF week ago and will do rustproofing in couple months from now.

Getting ready to do my third year application in the next few weeks, while it's still warm.

It'll be the first time with the WoolWax Pro gun and wands, but I'll stick with Corrosion Free again as I can get the 4L jug locally for a good price.

    I took my truck to
I took my tundra and my daughters escape to Mr Detail on Harvester road in burlingto because they use the corrosion free. But was very disappointed in the workmanship. Large areas were missed on both vehicles. Took my gm years ago annualy to Krown on industrial in burlington and both front fenders rotted out above the wheels. When I inspected the inside of the fenders they were bone dry. Goes to show any product is only as good as the person applying it. I have decided to buy the product direct from corrosion free and apply it myself from now on.

Did you ask them to complete the application properly before leaving with your truck?
We were very satisfied with Waterloo’s Bustard’s Detailing’s application of Corrosion Free.

No I never realized until much later. I was short on time so did not inspect the work and soon forgot about it.

Thought I’d jump in. November 2023 I went to this guy (mentioned before):

    https://www.sublimesurfacing.com/

I drove from Winnipeg to Edmonton to have this done. Turned it into a holiday and went to west Edmonton mall, met friends for a nice dinner, bought a cat shield from Myke (https://asylumdezyns.com/), and then drove back through the US (Montana/North Dakota)

I’ve been a long time rustcheck and krown user.

doing something is better than nothing, and more important than what you use, is how it’s applied.

ted @sublime has really thought out his process, and I believe it’s the best out there right now.

my truck went up on a hoist, wheels were taken off, and the wheel well liners too, and the entire undercarriage was dry ice blasted (essentially as clean as coming of the production line) and then coated with “Honeyseal” which is a wax type product with, rust inhibitors.

they also sprayed inside the truck frame with the wax, as well as the tailgate, and doors, and rockers.

product is guaranteed for 3 years, can last up to 15 years, and averages 5-7 years. Dependent on how you drive. Garage queen, never winter driven? You’ll never need a treatment. Off road lots? See ya in 3. Im hoping for 5-7 years, and even at that, I’ll just need the undercarriage re done.

cost was just over 1100 Canadian. If I get 7 years it’s about the same cost as rustcheck, and if you factor in my time of going each year for the oil spray I think this method is better. Plus your not dripping everywhere.

I was happy with rustcheck, but after 11 years my Nissan looked like it was sprayed with oil for 11 years.

and as I said, the application is more important than the product. You won’t get any cleaner than dry ice blasting. And krown/rustcheck doesn’t,take off the wheel well liners. I,was surprised at how much dirt accumulates behind the covers. It then holds moisture for rust.

check out sublimes web page, and Instagram, for tons of pictures. Ted also posts video clips going more in depth of his process. Look for dry ice detailing on YouTube. Dryce I,think was the, first, guy (Scott). Ted was the first in Canada to ice blast cars I think.

he wants to expand across,Canada. I hope he does. Car prices seem to always go up so if you,can hold of rusting as long,as possible it’s a good thing.

New Tundra came with Toyota installed electric charge block to repel rust .
Getting truck oiled shortly and in the fall.
Funny how other Toyota models have full plastic shielding underneath, but trucks are wide open. Easier to spray oil I guess.
That extra shielding would slow down Catalytic thieves fwiw.
