Anyone notice how exposed the gas tank is?
I'm afraid I might catch a sharp rock or stump and rip a hole in my tank. I'm not a hardcore wheeler but there's stuff out there on the way to the fishing holes.

Has anyone gone and added the plastic $150 tank guard for added protection?

Would it be worth the money and time to install one?

Should I get a metal plate instead?

The Toyota gas tank skid is pretty simple to install actually. RCI and Victory4x4 make aftermarket skids. If you wheel and scrape the bottom of your truck often, then it's worth it.
