    Hi every one!

After hand splitting a half face cord of oak for the wood stove, (because the girl does need stay warm on those chilly nights), I guess I was a little tired and my softball pitch tossing the split wood in the bed of the truck was a little sloppy, and yup, you guessed it... the girl not only took out the right rear window, but the center one as well. Damn, I'd call that a 2 fer if I ever saw it. I mean what's the chances of that happening? The old "two birds with one stone" thing. So after finding out from the friendly Toyota dealer that the rear window assembly was going to be $1800.00+, (ouch), I quickly decided to take things into my own hands.

So here is the dilemma, I taped up the right side, (I think I'm on my 4th layer of assorted duct tape), and I replaced the center window with a piece of plexi which is fine. So the question is, has anyone been able to replace one of those widows with success? I did find a guy on the internet that sells slightly smaller windows that you glue over the broken edge, but I don't know, that doesn't sound like the greatest solution. Any thoughts?IMG_1134.jpg

Check with a glass company, like safelight or a local shop. They should be able to repair if for much cheaper.

There was a post on here about the same thing a few months back as well i recall. I'd like to say that person found a used replacement but I can't remember.

Damn that buys a whole bunch of firewood split and delivered. Precisely one of the few reaons my truck received a headache rack. The thought of buying that high dollar rear power window. Yikes! Anyway, wish you better days ahead!!

This^. Or see what your local glass company wants for a new one. You are probably looking at around $300 or so to get the glass replaced either way. On the wood splitting accident, I almost did the same thing a couple of months ago. The log bounced off the ones already in the truck and hit the back glass. Didn't break it though, so I was lucky that time.

When I brought base molding, I open the window and slide it inside the cab cause I got a cover without a rack.

I just fabricated one out of Plexiglas (from Home Depot) and installed it with some silicon caulk. Honestly it works just fine.

I asked for a quote, and if they can install it. If so that would be a sweet deal...

Hello I did locate a untinted window at a junkyard for $100. But it is from a 2001, and I have a 2003. Do you guys think it will fit? Thank you!

It will fit. They are bolted in by the frame. They also use some sealer around the edges. The factory one is the way to go, the aftermarkets don't fit or behave as well.

I use mine all the time, but I'm lucky and have the power center window in my '05. Really gets the air circulating when you open the front windows.

As much as I love the air flow mine is manual. I forget to close it whenever I open it, plus I get all the debris from my bed in the cab if its open.

I can only imagine how annoying those double cab full roll down windows must be.
:D I would hate to have one.

They don't install, but the price is right and its on the way home from the cabin. So I have a couple of questions. Is this thing fragile, or can I wrap it in a moving blanket for transport. And, although I'm pretty handy, is this something I can install? The rear seat is removed, and I have every tool known to man. Thanks!

That would be the cost of your damages repaired properly or back to original condition. Your post said 1800 bucks, to me that buys a bunch of firewood.
