Rust Free originally from Texas and cared for by a previous FGT member.
I put my old Tacoma SCS Rims on the same day.

Wanted to show how I built my bed out.

The truck came with the bed Rhino Lined, I wanted to build it out to a more comfortable napping station in between surf sessions and for longer 1 month camping trips & road trips.

    I scored a $75 new BedRug for a 2007+ tundra.

I couldn't find the old ones they discontinued for the 1st gens so I had to do some cutting and retrofitting and the rug came out pretty nice.
As you can see the rug matches the grooves even if they were for different year Tundras

    AB3AB7A0-2C8E-4E24-BEEA-E4159735F99B.jpg 07D103F9-38C5-4579-A9C3-40D3E9E0BD09.jpg 0F9DFA6B-0B79-45E3-9E46-B8F2E4D35779.jpg

Next phase is the infrastructure for my fridge slide and platform to allow more space and functionality in my bed.
I used 8020 Aluminum extrusion (1"x1") along with 1/2' baltic birch plywood for the platform and varnished it with Varathane (water based)

Measured everything to the T and let the edges of the aluminum rest on the ledge / bed rail for support on those points.
I used a 60" locking slide for the fridge/platform, angled aluminum to rest the slide on and an additional angled iron to support the platform.
I made the measurements to exactly fit the Dometic CFX3 55IM Fridge for those longer trips.
Bought a cheap $35 (75"x30") mattress on Amazon to go ontop of the platform for stealth camping or if I'm lazy and don't want to pitch my tent.

I then drilled some holes on my bed and used RTV to seal the holes to bolt the base of the slides to the bed.

After testing it in a few offroad trips, its been very sturdy.

The archive garage leafsprings are very heavy duty. I highly recommend them to whoever is looking to put a camper or a constant heavy load on their truck.
Perfect for me as I'm planning to put on a Vagabond Camper on the back which will be on there fulltime along with the rest of my bed buildout.

    Thank you!

Awesome! Those are so nice. I've only seen them on two 1st gen Tundras so far.

I'd be really interested in hearing more about you renogy setup. I want to run an independent 100ah renogy battery in the bed with a 100w solar panel and a shore power charger. I don't want to have the second battery tied into the alternator or starter for cost reasons at the moment. I'll just be running a fridge and charging up bits and pieces and some led lighting. Super sick setup man

Getting everything hooked up this weekend. From my understanding itll be hard to keep that battery topped off if you are just relying on one 100w solar panel while you are running the fridge 24/7 during your trip. Nothing beats the alternator charging your battery because just running your engine for 10-15 mins would charge that battery much quicker than having to leave it under the sun for hours, that is if its not overcast weather.

Just my 2 cents and of course it depends on how long you plan to be off grid. If it's just for weekend getaways that set up you have in mind should be ok

I believe it's the smaller version of this one. This one here fits the entire camper shell which is pretty bad ass but it's only got a 150 payload. Thin metal.

I'm curious how he mounted it. All the ones I'm finding on Amazon are designed to mount to cross bars. I want to mount directly to the shell.

So the basket has 4 mounting points and it comes with some rubber feet and a bottom half of the clamshell mount. If you take the rubber piece and flip it you can use that as a mounting pad between the shell and the rack. Mark and drill the holes, silicone, and bolt the rack to the shell. I've seen 2 other guys do it this way. It works great but it's a permanent deal.

You could also take 1x1 Alu square tube and cut 45° on both sides to make a mounting foot if you want to be able to take the rack off from time to time.

Similar to this, he added a flat Alu bar stock in between the foot and the shell and utilized quick release knobs to take it on and off. If you don't mind drilling your topper then this is the easiest and cheapest route

That's perfect. I don't mind drilling and I'm mainly getting it so I can mount my awning to it. Thanks for the help. @migx333 sorry to hijack.

Lots of updates on the truck. one thing that helped me a lot on overlanding trips or surf sessions is the addition of the big 18-gallon custom water tank that filled up the dead space by the wheel well area

Stand is made of 80/20 aluminum extrusion

Very creative use of that space for that water thank. Nice work.

Question, how did you mount that shovel to your basket? Quick Fist?

    Thanks!

I finally got word from Vagabond Outdoors and my camper will be ready in December.
I'll be updating my build page a lot more once the camper arrives. Looking to tear everything apart and redo it with insulation, add a sink back there and mount a permanent water heater for showers as well.
