Hey brothers and sisters....S.H.I.T. ......Sure Happy It's Thursday. ;)

Anyway, I'm about to install some Spidertrax wheel spacers on my truck. The question I have is..."When installing the Spidertrax the instructions say to check/retighten the nuts after 50 miles."

Do you guys do this? OR Do you just install them and forget the retightening?

Any help/opinions would be helpful, thank you!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

first time, go back and chceck, does not hurt. I generally go back and check, but not always, maybe 1 out of 500 times has one been loose.

But, I frequently check the torque settings on my lugs, not sure why as they are really never out of whack.

I would highly recommend that you follow their instructions. When I had installed my Spidertrax spacers I found one or two lugs per wheel had lost a small amount of torque. Always better safe than sorry ...

I used BLUE loctite on mine so I could get them of in the future. Here's how I installed mine:

torqued to 50, then 75 then 100 in a star pattern. Then I quickly installed the wheels and drove the truck up and down the street using sharp brake and acceleration and a little swerving. I only do this for a block then back to the garage. Be careful not to heat up the brakes so the hub doesn't get hot.

I then quickly removed the wheels and retorqued the spacer before the loctite is fully cured.

I do this every time I have to remove the spacers, like changing the rotors.

If you follow their instructions then you are putting red loctite on and you almost snap the lugs trying to get it off in the future. Ask me how I know

Well, yes ... I did use the loctite that they supplied. I figure they should know what is best to be used with their products. Luckily, I did only used half of what they recommended. That was probably a good thing because like you stated ... It was pretty hard to remove some 4,000 miles later. I had to have my son hold the brake and use a small cheater bar to break the torque.

Thanks for your replies! I just didn't want to have to take off the wheels a second time if I didn't have to. It sounds like I had better! :benchpress::muscleflexing:

@TruckinIt Yea I would too, when I spoke to the guys that are going to lift my truck, they told me that I have to come back after 500 miles or something to have them retighten all,the bolts and to check to make sure nothing is loose.. must be some type of safety standard... so I would check them after a day of driving.. what did you get???

I'm going to install my own wheel spacers, Spidertrax. When I had my lift installed they also had me come back after 500 miles to tighten any loose things up. I also can go back anytime I want to get a "free" tightening. So I'll be pulling my wheels off a day or two of driving to check the lugs on the Spidertrax.

So that's going to push your wheels out now? What offset do you already have?

Stock offset is +60. With the wheel spacers I believe it'll be around a +35.

Actually, if you did the 1.25" Spidertrax you'll be at approx a +28.25 offset.

Got mine at 4 Wheel Parts about 1-2 months ago. I wasn't aware they came in 1 inch, but I wouldn't want 1 inch anyway.

And I just installed 1" Bora spacers to the front of my Tundra. Bora does not include any loctite with their spacers so I'm gonna try the "Blue" this time around and will recheck the torque tomorrow after work.

Alittle upset as I found that on the rear the studs appear to be just a bit longer than 1". Guess I'm gonna have to send them back for 1.25 ones.

    Spidertrax doesn't make 1" spacers, only 1.25"

Bora on the other hand makes them from 1" up to 2" and maybe even higher.

What wheels do you have? I'm thinking about getting the 1" boras. I noticed the same thing with the rear studs. I think it's because the brake rotors are thinner. My 3rd gen trd wheels have a pretty good recess between the lug holes. I was thinking that would be enough to clear the ends of the studs. Did you try installing the spacers on the rear?

Wrong bolt pattern. Think its for a different vehicle. I believe spidertrax only makes a 1.25 for the tundra

Just installed mine today. But it's pulling to the right a lot. Pulled them off for the time being. May have to go get it realigned.
Did anyone else have to get a alignment after install?
