Insurance is paid in full. Market value is well above what I paid. Not a huge concern.

    That's a good angle!

I wonder how many vehicles actually experienced issues with it.

Good time to throw the Pro LEDs in. I asked them about it 2 weeks ago before service and the techs said nothing to worry about with headlight swap.

There are already other posts on this. They inspect the wiring and bulb housing. If there is evidence of melting or charring, they replace the headlight assy with a new one. The high beam was getting hot with extended usage. The occasional flash is not going to have issues.

I think that was also at low speeds where there was no air movement around the area. I don't use my high beams much and, if I do, I'm probably on the highway so I doubt they'll find any charring in mine.

I considered going HID because HID is king...but i would rather pay a good retrofitter instead of buying a generic projector headlight assembly. last time i had my headlights built, it took 4 months and I didnt wanna wait that long this time.

Would this risk of fire cause the transmission to overheat?

Not if you install a cooler to circulate around the headlight housings.

As long as you have an undergraduate degree in armchair Facebook fact checking and believe your opinion is the only one that should be considered.

Just got the notice for this recall today. I have a 2021 access cab SR5. Key is to not run high beams for hours and / or at low speeds (figure 30 mph or less) for hours. Using these intermittently while on the road when you would normally use them isn't an issue, per the recall notice. Per the Interim Notice I got in the mail today, there is no fix yet, so another notice of the fix will be on the way when available.

If needed, I'm happy to post the reclass notice here for all to take a gander.
