I also wanted a front bench but didn't really have high expectations. Already on the current truck you can only get it on the lowest trims. And finally the way that Toyota distribution works here, virtually zero chance of ordering/finding one.

its not a matter of distribution is a matter of how toyota builds vehicles. toyota builds vehicles based on volume sold previously. the more a model/options sells they more they build different versions of it. since toyota does not do special orders but allocations requests. when someone requests a certain build, a dealer puts in an allocation request for that build and once its built during the build process that order is fulfilled and sent to the dealer requesting that build. a computer determines what model and options are built on the factory floor, hence the allocation process (it allocates a certain model/option based on previous quarter/year sales)

i think i rambled on there anyway.

ie: since SR are rarely purhcased, the allocate less of those models built, tundra with bench seats are rarely bought so the allocation of those being built are less, why waste resources building something maybe 1% of the tundra buying public will by. move that slot to something being built that will sell

over the course of a generation they see what sells and what doesnt. hence no more bench seat configs, no more small v8 being built only the 5.7L engine. etc etc

hope that explains the allocation process and how toyota drops certain options

Tons of folks like me wanting bench seats but we are no longer toyotas target audience. They want the guy who walks in ready to sign for a $50 or $60k truck with a 14inch screen in the dash that has a button on the screen that will launch his boat without touching the steering wheel or pedals and schedules $150 toyota service center oil changes ever 5k miles like clockwork

then i guess the 1k-2k people that bought bench seats should have converted more people to buy bench seats in the lower trims. thats the way toyota does stuff. build small set of models/options but do it good and have a low failure rate or be like the big 3 and build 50 millions different versions of the same truck and have all kinds of problems from day 1 to forever.

as anyone else says, your money talks, if you want what you want go spend your money where it makes you happy. plenty of people are glad with what toyota offers. also lots of other options from other manufacturers that will satisfy your needs that toyota doesnt fulfill.

unfortunately, toyota has never been about giving you what you want, they give what the general public wants in a toyota and the general toyota public dont care for bench seats.

I know most people have come to the logical conclusion that there will be no 6 passenger 3rd Gen Tundra, but I spoke to a friend in marketing at Toyota this afternoon to get the inside scoop. Unfortunately, our hunches are correct. No 6 passenger Tundra in any trim level. No new Tundra for me.
