Need a little help,I have a 2021 trd pro with 600 miles on it.I was driving home tonight and noticed a loud squealing noise coming from the rear area of the truck. The sound increases the faster i go and decrease as i slow down. If i come to a complete stop and start going again the sound goes away. I can drive 5 or 10 miles with no noise before it starts again.Everytime just before the sound starts again i hear a click and the noise starts again. Thanks for any help.

I'd take it back to the dealer asap. That's what the warranty is for.

Definitely let the dealer do their job. Could check out the calipers. Ive gotten sticks and rocks caught in the caliper and you'd be surprised at how much noise something like that could make.

Check driveline and for debris caught under it.

The dealership is saying this dust cover flange is making the noise and ordering a new one.Just wondering if any guys that deal with rear diffs have replaced this.

The dust shields are on your rear brake rotors...it happens...not usually warranting a new one but rocks get in-between therefore and dust shield if you use it as a truck...

**Edit: haha oh, wow, the photo didn't load when I read that...you're right, not the rear caliper dust shields...I'm It sure on the dif...QA/QC has gone downhill with everything these days...be glad you have warranty!!

Is it dented and making contact at some point? I would spray some PB Blaster in the groove where the rust is, and see if the noise goes away before letting the Dealership actually mess with it.

They are ordering the part, was just curious of what could be wrong with it. Plus just wanted some insight on could something be wrong with the ring and pinion.

Seems to me itd be hard for someone to diagnose without being able to hear it. I guess if I was concerned about the diff Id just check and make sure it had gear oil. If it was me Id drive it and let the warranty do its thing. Still plenty of time on the clock.

So they said the seal shield was actually causing the noise? Did they say why they thought this, and how replacing it would eliminate the squeal?

They put it on the lift with a guy in the driver's seat. They had him speed up and slow down to duplicate the noise .Then they said exactly what you said. That it must be dented,so they sprayed lube on it and the noise went away.

It has me very nervous, plus they had to replace the rear driverside shock because it was leaking. My 2016 tundra never had one problem.

As a former Tech myself, I understand the feelings you have, especially with a brand new truck. Give them a chance to make it right. Good luck, and let us know how you make out.

Thank you, just wondering is that all one piece from the housing to the drive shaft?Does the nut that holds that on have anything to with setting the ring and pinion?

A similar noise just appeared tonight on my brand new 2021 Platinum with only 250 miles on it. Not a great feeling...

Does this sound similar to the noise you had? It stopped when I came to a complete stop but would start again after gaining some speed.

No I just made a quick trip to the store a hour ago and it started on the way to the store. Had the family out to the park earlier today and it was fine.

Dust cap by rear diff. We had to ship our truck back to dealership to repair. So annoying! Brand new!

Well I smell a potential supplier issue and TSB coming out for this one.
The diffs are produced by hino. Usually solid products. But with employment issues and supply issues all these companies are feeling it.
