Looking for a mat to put in the bed to make it a little more comfortable for my dogs. I have a factory spray in bed liner but want something with a flat surface for them and perhaps with some cushion. I’ve looked at the Bedrug and it looks nice but also see the OEM bed mat. Anyone have the OEM mat? Curious to know if the back has ridges to fill in the valleys of the bed or is it just a flat piece of rubber that sits on top of the ridges.

I have the OEM bed mat and it is very thick, it sits on top of the ridges. I would think it comfortable to sit on aside from it getting hot in the sun.

In this case OEM is a solid value item.

Have it and know many others with it for Tundra and Tacoma.

We have 2 dogs, they appear to be in favor of this choice when I asked them.

check out a horse stall mat you can get from Tractor Supply. You will have to cut it because it's longer than your bed. Very heavy duty and can easily be removed for cleaning if needed.

I have the Westin bed mat in my truck and it is similar to the OEM one but cheaper.

Yeah I picked up an OEM from the dealer where I bought the truck. It was $121 with tax out the door. The back has a raised dot's/bumps. Combined with the ridges on the bottom of the bed, no way could it fit lay flat and trap any water. It was thicker and heavier than I anticipated. It took a few weeks for it it to completely "unroll" and lay flat. Also, I carry my golf bag in the back and the mat was a bit "sticky" in that is was more a scrape than a slide with get the bag in and out (I have a cover). So I applied some of my black trim dressing to the bed mat which lets the golf bag slide in and out much easier.

I bought the bedrug that is just a mat this time. Doesn’t go up the sides. Saves a big chunk of change. Want to say well under $200.

I have always thought the Bed Rug would let things just slide around back there too easily?
I include Dogs in that thought who I think will always be sort of fighting to stay where they are when driving around?

The OEM mat is great but a little better for traction too and I have recently gotten a Tractor Supply Stall Mat for $50 that is really non-slip and exactly 4'x8' already and just unrolled into a perfect fit in the bed.

Things don't slide easily at all on a BedRug. My 14 has the Yota bed mat. Very good but heavy and hard on the knees. I had a BedRug in my 07. Was great. The guy I bought it from totaled his Tundra/topper and had no need for it anymore. He got it specifically for his hunting dogs that always rode in back. My dog liked it too. The Bedrug is very durable. I will be replacing my hard rubber mat soon with a BedRug.

I have a Bed Rug that a friend was going to just throw away from their long Sprinter and it is brand new,I was thinking of just cutting it down to use in another truck, probably my Baby Sprinter so I did a little test on the floor of my shop and things did slide around a lot more than on any rubber mat that I tried and I had 3 different ones to compare the Rug with there too.

So it sits on top of the bathroom stored for now until I decide to stick it somewhere else.

I had my RedRug in my 07 for 5 years. Never had that issue. Quite the opposite. Was a pain in the rear trying to push or slide my gear boxes and coolers in and out. I had a decent DeeZee rubber mat that was replaced. The old mining roads here are rough and you get bounced around a lot and my gear would stay put on the Bedrug. On the other hand stuff does slide around a bit too much on my OEM rubber mat for my liking even with the anti skid bumps all over it that are hard as hell on my knees.

These mats are practically bulletproof. A lot of my friends run them in their trucks. They're like $40 or something absurdly cheap too.

Went ahead and placed an order for the bedrug mat with the tailgate piece. Don’t need it to wrap up the sides so saved a bit there. I considered the rubber stall mats as I am very familiar with them as they cover half of my garage floor but too heavy in case I ever need to remove it for some reason.

Bedrug gets pretty hot in the sun as well..

Had a full bedrug on my 2005 with a Retrax cover.

I have the bed and tailgate mat in 2014 with an Undercover flex cover.
I have an OEM spray-in and the mat sticks to it with velcro.
It is molded to sit in the ridges of the bed floor.
It can be quickly taken out if needed.

What would you recommend for truck camping? Sounds like the BedRug might be the way to go...?

Also, how easy/difficult is it to clean from debris versus a bed mat?

    Thanks

The BedRug is fairly easy to clean. You can remove it or simply leave it in place like I did. It breathes so it dries out pretty quick. I have the OEM rubber mat which is ok. Easy to clean, but hard on my knees, heavy as hell, hard to handle, and doesn't breathe of course. Moisture can get trapped underneath so you need to remove it to clean it in most instances. RedRug is the way to imho.

Thanks for the quick reply! Would you recommend the 1-piece option to include the tailgate? I would think that would be best.

Yes. My 07 had the full Bedrug up the sides and to the tailgate. I only have the BedRug tailgate now. I'm going to get the full length BedRug without the sides and sell my existing tailgate BedRug along with the OEM rubber mat.

Cool thanks. I'm hoping to get one quickly but not sure if I will get it in time for our camping plans. I might check local auto stores but am guessing they won't have them in stock.

Is this what you're going to get? Just wanted to make sure I was looking at the right item.

Yes, just ordered from Amazon. $203 from BedRug or Amazon but wait time is much shorter with Amazon.

I’ll have it on the 5th!
