Hi all, shamelessly looking for free, solicited advice here.

I am in the process of buying a used tundra - I sold my Tacoma high in this market and will have to pay more than I'd like while still saving the brunt of what I made off the sale.

Currently I'm looking at an 2007 5.7 liter with 165k miles and a 6 inch rough country lift. He customized the lift to get rid of the blocks so it's better than a stock RC lift but still RC. I don't know a ton about this type of work and I am skeptical about the longevity of the truck - he says the lift is in good shape but could use new struts. I would even consider replacing the lift with a higher quality product if people think that's a viable route.

Frame is in good shape but I will need to patch the bed as it's got a good sized hole near the right wheel well. Is this asinine to buy at 13.5k?

    Thanks for any feedback.

I see Pro Comp parts under there and some good rust. Being from the NW I run from rust.

14k for unknown parts and rust, I would walk.

What is with the mufflers hanging down?
Tires will need to be replaced soon but better to fix the suspension first and get an alignment before you do that.

Too much work for me, lol.

Thanks for the input..I came to the same conclusion since posting this question so I'm glad that I don't have to second guess myself now.

That's about the lowest trim level you can get to have 4WD. I would pay more for less mileage, but that's just me.

The mileage doesn't concern me but I would not buy a rust belt truck. I would keep looking there are nice one out there.

Thanks again for all the input. I could care less about trim level but the rust and unknown associated with it are definitely problematic up in the northeast.

You can get 4wd in every trim level.

Personally, I would see if you can contact a local broker, and have them find you a truck from an area without rust issues like Arizona... Visible rust scares me. I have seen some nice, clean pre 2010 trucks here in Colorado with less than 150k miles for under $15k.

Yeah if you're looking for an older truck like that I would stay away from the rust belt ones... Even if you've gotta ship it. You'll probably think yourself later when maintenance items assuredly pop up.

Yeah, but my point is that's about the only option that truck looks to have.
