Low Rumble on 08 Sequoia

    Between 2000-3000rpm, I get a low rumble through the Steering Wheel and Floorboard while pressing the accelerator. It goes away as I go below 2000 rpm or let off the gas. Any ideas as to what this could be?

    BTW....it has 189k miles with new brakes and tires. This has been happening since before I put them on

    I haven't tried to replicate it in Neutral. But I do know it isn't speed related. It does it at high speed on the highway and moderate speed on hills. It starts just past 2000 rpm and continues as I give it gas and goes away the moment I let up

    Just throwing darts, but maybe check your engine mounts for excessive movement.?

    But wouldn't this be an issue above 3000rpm? I would think it would get worse the more rpm

    Dunno. Probably depends upon harmonics for a particular motor and the rest of the system it's attached to.

    If you dont have any codes being thrown, I would probably start looking for something mechanically out of whack.

    Get under there and start checking for excessive play in any driveline parts. Engine and tranny mounts, drive shaft, rotating engine accessories.

    First thing I thought as well.


    @Submariner pop it in neutral and run it up to 2k-3k RPM. If it doesn't cause the vibration/rumble, then you know it's something with your drive line, wheels, tires, etc. that is only a factor while in motion. If it does still cause it then you can eliminate those items from the list of culprits.

    Post back with your findings and we'll help however we can. :thumbsup:

    Well it doesn't rumble in neutral but the engine sounds like a motorcycle going through it's gears. I was holding steady at 2500 rpm

    Sorry for the extremely late reply but my wife went in for back surgery and I've been playing caretaker. I have someone coming over in a couple of days to grease the driveshaft zerks. I'd do it myself but I can't get down that far :). I'll update you on Friday
