I went with the Chevy style mirrors.
    Very happy with them.

I bought & have since taken off the GM style. IMHO they just stick out wayyyy to far. Maybe it’s because my truck isn’t lifted or they’re not color matched idk, they just look a little goofy. I love everything about them other than that though, which sucks.

Has anyone tried to shorten the length that they stick out? I feel like you could cut the outside housing & the arm inside down a little bit they’d be better looking. I obviously realize that isn’t the purpose of a tow mirror, but I feel like you would still have great vantage points.

@anthonygan do you have some more pics of your color matched GM style where they’re not fully extended

Did you color match them yourself? Or take them somewhere & have them done?

Yeah I requested for that! Since I thought it would look best if the whole thing was painted.

I am debating on getting the towing mirrors just for looks - Boost Auto Parts. With everything they're close to $1000! Is it worth it if you do not tow anything?

No, they make it harder to see on the passenger side. If I didn't tow a TTI would half stayed with the OE mirrors.

Agreed they do make the passenger side view a little different, i used to own a GMC 2500 so i’m kind of used to it.
It does take getting used to but overall I think it’s a good upgrade. Just need to adjust the upper and lower mirrors really well.

If you don't tow, why are you wanting tow mirrors? If its just esthetics, buy some cheap ones off Amazon. I'd assume at that price you are wanting to add power fold. If so, your options for adding it is between Boost and 1AAuto (at least I couldn't find more) and both are comparable if you select similar options. You just missed the labor day sale from Boost

Those boost mirrors look great. If I hadn't found a smokin CL deal for OEM I'd certainly look into a set of those.

Having said that, others had mentioned they're a bit small but, I find i can see everything I need to see with the OEM tow mirrors. I do adjust them down a hair when towing, as opposed to daily driving, just so I can keep an eye my trailer tires. Absolutely zero vibration, which is a plus just because that drives me crazy.

We had the “clip-on” tow mirrors on the Taco, they vibrated bad. When we traded up to the Tundra we both agreed we would have actual tow mirrors. We went with the OEM (only pic on iPad)

This is one thing I didn't realize until I bought them. I even reached out to boostauto about it and there's no convex upper glass that could be added. One thing I'm curious about is if the OEM mirrors are like this or if the upper glass is slightly convex. If so, that's reason enough to choose them over the GM style.

You can use a small triangle convex mirror in the upper corner that solves the problem.

My understanding is the OE mirrors are the same. Aren't the GM style a non convex mirror as well?

Pretty much all normal mirrors on the passenger side have a slight convex to them, including non-tow OEM, to provide an appropriate viewing area. That's why there's the disclaimer "objects in mirror are closer than they appear". Drivers side mirrors are flat glass.

The boostauto tow mirrors use a flat upper glass which makes the passenger upper glass "zoomed in" and provides too small of a viewing area. I solve this issue by primarily using the lower glass but it's not ideal. If I'd have known this before purchasing, I don't know if I would have bought them. What I'm wondering is if the OEM tow mirrors are the same or if the upper passenger glass has a slight convex to it, which is preferable.

I don't believe it does. I researched it before I bought my aftermarket. I checked out some pics on eBay and none of the OE tow mirrors had the disclaimer "objects may be closer" printed on them.

Great minds think alike because I was doing exactly that about 15 minutes ago and came to the same conclusion, but was curious if I was wrong.

Maybe someone could chime in if they have OE mirrors? I had asked the question months before and never got an answer.

    A bunch
GM, Ford, and Toyota tow mirrors have a flat upper glass on the passenger side. I'm so used to Ford tow mirrors that convex regular mirrors mess me up, which is a big reason I switched to tow mirrors.

Good to know, thanks. Sounds like I'll just suck it up and get used to it if I want to keep my tow mirrors, which I do.

Use the little convex mirror and mounted it on the top corner on the inside on both sides. It's a game changer.

The blindspot isn't a concern of mine as the lower glass is essentially a giant version of that little mirror. I can see my whole blindspot and side of the truck quite nicely. I just need to get used to it so I know when they're in my blindspot versus approaching my blindspot.

I do have those little mirrors on my other vehicles though, they're invaluable.
