Well, this was fun to find out during the vehicle's inspection...

    2016 SR5
TRD Pro headlights with Headlight Revolution's basic conversion harness
LED front and rear turn signals (no resistor yet)

With headlights off, the blinkers function as intended (but hyperflash due to lack of resistors at the moment)
With headlights or high beams on, the rear blinkers still function as intended, however the front amber DRLs stay in the on mode and don't blink.

Did I miss something simple or could this be an issue with the harness?

It’s this the first time it’s happened? Or first time you noticed? Both?

first inspection with this set up?

    I would suggest ihacker harness.

When I checked the blinkers after installation, I only checked with headlights off and thought it was good to go. It's the first inspection with this setup.

Check the blinkers plug, I heard about this problems with the HR harness and they know it but refuse to fix their installation guide.

They suggest to flip the wires in the signals plug but this is worthless and instead of fixing the hyper flash make it worst creating more issues with dash and taillights, their harness is missing one part to fix this.

The instructions they provide only work for the trucks with the single LED strip and don’t apply for truck with amber DRL.

To fix your problem put the wires back to the original location and don’t use the violet wire just cover the metal pin with electrical tape and secure it to the wiring looming, seal the hole with clear silicone to keep water out of the plug.

I hope this resolve your problem.

To be clear, you're referring to the violet wire for the J29 plug under the dash?
With your harness, would I still have to mess with that wire?

On my 2015 this did not work I had to move the white wire over and just remove the violet one from the middle location for it to work correctly. I tried moving the white wire to the middle and my turn signals just hyper flashed. I would for sure recommend anyone just getting the Ihacker harness to avoid having to figure this mess out.
