I purchased powder from one of my friends at work. It had been sitting on the parking lot for about three years, and during our recent building move I looked at it in detail. It looked a little neglected, but overall in great shape. I did not need a truck but had always like the 1st gens, I asked him about it and he said he would give me a great deal on it. I could not pass on it.
This is what it looked like where it had mostly sat for all that time.

I purchased it with about 347k miles.
Since I bought it I have done the timing belt, water pump, new radiator and all the fluids. All except for the front diff, I am not able to crack the drain plug open. I may take it to my mechanic tomorrow. I have been using my Land Rover mechanic in Sunnyvale.

My teen son and I also installed a new Eibach Pro Lift kit, we raised the truck another 2 inches from where it sat on the blown 5100 perches. I had planned for new 5100's but they were on BO til Sept. The Eibach's made it home within two days via Tire Rack, with a discount to boot.
We also found a set of 32" Wildpeak MT's wrapped around TRD (fake) Beadlocks on the Tacoma world board. That was a lucky find just 20 min from my house.
We also added an aux harness for the radio with a bluetooth receiver, love that I can stream Tidal on my old looking radio.

looking to add sliders, a rear locker and a front receiver to use with a cradle winch.

Anyways, I am really liking this car, love the simplicity and the looks of it.
Looking fwd to hanging out on the board for advise and content.

    Here is powder's latest picture

@2002tii You are my brotha from another motha. I too have a white 2002 with a camper shell. I love those wheels and tires.

I'm assuming you named it chalk truck because of the paint? Toyota did a single-stage paint job on most of these, including the white ones. That's just oxidation and you should be able to buff a lot of it out. I made a thread about it here.

Hello Erik, just got back from Tahoe, as I was making a left from Pioneer trail to 50, another white Tundra was making a right hand turn to Pioneer. we had quite the double take and smile as both trucks were the same model with the white camper shell.
Thanks for the compliment on the wheels, those were a real lucky find.
I looked at your wash polish method, I did use dawn to wash the truck cause I know it removes oils, and waxes. The chalky paint had a few oily dirty spots. I will try and follow your recommendations next time a give it a good detail.
Unrelated to the thread: My Family and the inlaws took a trip to Tahoe this last week, at the last minute I decided to drive the Tundra up because the amount of peeps and crap we were bringing. Glad I did as my LR3 decided not to start after a day at the beach, we tried towing it to a shop but AAA would not do it unless we had an appointment. Towed it to the house, thought about towing it home with the Tundra but figure between trailer and car it was over 7k pounds. My friend came to the rescue with his more capable new ford, the "fridge" (my kids new nickname for the Tundra) was used to pull the LR3 on the Uhaul trailer. In the end glad I had it there cause it helped with loading plus kept my family mobile.

Not much of an update, got a new windshield and stopped by the truck topper place to ask about retrofitting windoors on my snugtop. It was a no for my model. EA0FD1F2-2177-4F4B-8B25-AA95B5DCC517.jpg

paid around $240 for the new glass, makes it look like new from inside.

Two days ago I loaned my commuter car to a friend and I drove the fridge home. About 5 min in got a battery light, immediately looked at my temp gage. Temp held steady, and voltage was above half so I figured bad alt. I stayed off the freeway in case my battery went down, easier to deal with car on city streets. With the ac off and no radio, the car made the 40 min home no problem. Once home got the multimeter, battery was at 12.16v with no alt charging evidence. To confirm I removed the ground and car just died. With 350k guess it was time, I replaced with reman Denso alternator last night, I lost the top nut on the power steering pump. I looked throughout parts schematics and closest thing I find is flange nut part number 90178-06006. No size or any reference to being the part I need. If anyone knows the right size please chime in. I was just going to get maybe an M8 and see if that will work.

I got an M10-1.5 flange nut, did not work. It was the only size avail at the store when I returned the alternator core.
suggestions (with or without cruelty) are welcomed.

Been a while since my last post. Let's see, drove the fridge to Vegas for Red Flag, and then to Tucson for Flight Sim. Rather drive than fly commercial.
Did some exploring on the way back east of the Sierra's, then through Yosemite.
Since then got some "updates". Bought a dometic CFX3 75 and a cover, replaced instrument lights with LED's and replaced the group 24 battery with a group 29HM I had for a troller motor.
Had been thinking about getting a group 31, I remembered I had the mostly unused group 29 and figure why not.
The footprint is much closer to a 27, has 675CCA and is rated 115aH.
I think it will work. The battery bracket fits just right and though the terminals are backwards the car cables reach without tension. I did have to adjust the bracket for the loom coming from the engine.
Below are picts of the installed group 29 battery, the second one shows how it sits on the OEM plastic tray.
Not posting pictures of instrument lights or fridge, If you don't know what instrument lights and dometic coolers look like, you are overdoing your quarantine.

used Tundra 2 post for instrument lights replacement
