    Hello folks

New to the forum and a self professed Newbie when it comes to messing with suspensions. I have been reading countless posts on various lifts and there is lots of great information here, but hoping a few experts can help me out on the following.

I am looking at adding a 3/2 Lift on my stock 1794. My biggest concern is that I would like to keep the "factory ride" while also accommodating my 35' travel trailer (bumper pull) which is ~9,000 loaded; tongue weight of ~780 lbs.

I have 3 quotes that all very. The one that I am entertaining is as follows:
What is throwing me off is that only one of the three shops is quoting rear shocks. They say its due to the block that goes in the back on the spring, so a longer shock is needed for more travel.

One of the other quotes if for a Revtek 437 lift - not sure if this is a better option and if shocks would be recommended. http://www.revtek.com/vehicle-selection/toyota/tundra/2007-2017-tundra-2wd-4wd.html

I do some mild off roading just to get the ATV's out. Other than that, 98% is spent on paved roads.

I am wondering if this setup will it change the ride of the 1794? Is this the right approach?

Thanks for any help/advice you can offer! :canada:

Welcome TJ. I would replace the front Coil overs and not use the spacer lift.

Thanks. I have heard that's an option. To get it level would I go with height adjustable shocks in the back?

There are lots of options to get you the 3" you want up front. Toytec, OME, King, Fox, etc. It's a little more expensive but much better riding. If you use a spacer lift, you're compressing your coil spring and making your ride stiffer.

Welcome T.J. I happen to have the Revtek 437 spacers on the front of my 17 Crewmax...it is the ONLY Spacer kit that Toyota approves !!!...It is a lot cheaper way to go to level the front end , but of course coil overs will provide a better ride....I, like you, mainly drive on pavement, as my off-road days are 95% behind me. Big difference in price between the two....I got mine off the internet for under $90.00...2.5 " spacers...did not put the 1" blocks in the rear, nor did I order them ...I like the leveled look !!... I hate rake !!!

Honestly, the "best" is new leaf sprigs or mini pack and longer shocks. Your stock shocks aren't meant to handle 2" of lift. Maybe @ColoradoTJ or @jberry813 will chime in, they know their sh++.

Note that the Revtek Spacer has smaller spacers that sit above the bigger spacer, but is underneath the top of the mounting plate....other kits out there have you put hose smaller spacers ON TOP of the mounting plate !!!...And that is what you DONT want !!

And, with 2" of lift in the rear, you may or may not need a carrier bearing drop. See @Coachbuilder1

I knew that putting the spacers up front was going to compromise a LITTLE stiff suspension in front end, but its only noticeable over speed bumps.....again, its all about what you intend to do with you truck. As I stated in an earlier quote , I HATE THE LOOK OF A TRUCK WITH RAKE !!..And its a pavement princess...so I am not throwing anything in the back of my truck to make it squat...

If he's towing, I would think stiffness (from a spacer lift) in the front would be less evident?

If in the future I end up with a travel trailer...been there done that, stare at it in the winter as im making payments and not using it for 6 months,
Yes sir, it is hardly noticeable when towing....If I was independently WEALTHY I would go with coilovers :militarypress:

Thanks. Definitely on a budget and I guess technically it puts me in the pavement princess category. That said, she's angry and quite aggressive - lol.

    Welcome from TN!

Coilovers in front is a must IMO. Bilsteins won't give you the 3" in front unless you put some shins on top. Toytec, icon, fox all have shocks that go from 1-3.5.

Unless you're going to tow frequently, I wouldn't go AAL, shackles or icon leaf pack may give you the ride you're looking for.

Rear shocks aren't adjustable to my knowledge. Just get a rear shock that is advertised to support 1-3" of lift. My Toytec resi's support 1-3" of lift and I have a 1" block. My stock rears were shot within a couple months of putting on that block! LOL

Airbags would be a good option, but then again, a WDH would be better.

Hello TJ and welcome from San Diego. With a trailer that size and weight, you definitely want a good WD hitch that is set up CORRECTLY and air bags in the rear. My trailer isn't as heavy, but still use bags with the WD hitch. To much pressure in the bags and you are deleting the purpose off the WD hitch. You have to play around and get it dialed in. If I were you, and you want a good decent ride on the street and dirt, I would stay away from the spacer lifts and go with a Billy 5100. You can get the shocks for $95 ea and reuse your factory coils. This keeps you budget minded and still a great ride. I wouldn't go much anything over 2-1/2" lift up front without getting into geometry issues and new UCA. Just my thoughts and hope this helps.
