Been a three Taco family for about 15 years and then my daily driver a 2001 DLX was totaled, just a simple 4 banger 5 speed rear wheel drive.. i'm gonna miss it...

Being that it's pretty hard/expensive to get a used Taco I thought I might look for a Tundra instead, yea a real dreamer here...

I get lucky and found a Toyota Dealership selling their shop truck, a 2000 Tundra base auto with 160k. Wish it was a manual but... It needs a coat of paint but I kind of like the patina and I can touch up the paint chips. I may just Gas Monkey Garage it and have my brothers shop name painted on the side and clear coat over the faded green paint.

I did take the wheel covers off since it was missing one and I thought the deep dish wheel looked better than a missing cover.

Tons of documented Toyota service over the past 5 years including new frame, timing belt, starter, power steering pump, brake rotors, drums, shoes, exhaust and much more. Can't tell if the radiator is original so that might be my first preventive task I perform.

The only rust on this truck is in the bed, the typical rust from the outside in. I plan to tackle that in some form, if it is real bad I may find a replacement but I thought if thats the worse its pretty simple to replace it with a clean donor bed. The bumpers are pretty rough as well, thats not a major issue though might look for some good replacements that are power coated and possible add Fog Lights while I am at it..

Looking forward to all the wisdom this site has to offer.

    Thanks,
    Gary
