I wanted to create this thread to say thanks to Keith over @dirtydeeds
His service and exhaust far exceeded my expectations

I went to San Diego for a trip. I contacted him and placed an order for an 8" standard system. He was willing to install it for me before work since I was busy during the day time hours but I forgot the clamp for the tailpipe. I ended up just picking up the system from him.

When i got back home, I installed the system and didn't install the helmholtz resonator. I test drove it and I was already pleased with how well it sounded and the throttle response I gained on the truck. I thought, I don't need the helmholtz resonator. Well today, I was curious on how it would sound with the helmholtz resonator. So I installed it.

Installation was a breeze. Drop the spare tire. Mock up the resonator and mark the pipe. Drill a 2" hole with a hole saw. Install the resonator with the clamps supplied. Perfect fit!

Took it for a drive and wow it sounds even better then without the resonator. before there was a little drone which didn't bother me, and now there is zero drone. But still sounds good when you give it gas. The more you give it gas the better it sounds! I highly recommend Keith and his system!

    -Mike

Sounds nice. So the resonator wouldn't fit with a 35" tall tire stuffed under there?

Did I install my resonator in the correct spot?

Ok cool. Good to know. Does it just have to be mocked up with the spare in place?

When I was installing it, that flat spot on the tail pipe isn't that long so just mount it as far forward on that flat piece and angle it up as much as possible but giving it clearance to not hit the bed. you should be good then. That was my concern to once I go to a bigger tire but we should be fine as the resonator is angled slightly above where the tire would be.

Thanks for the info. I will have tires on before I get the exhaust so just trying to gather as much info as I can. Plan on long road trips for camping and off roading so want no drone if I upgrade exhaust.

Mike, great write up with pics and vid!! Sounds BA! I would love to hear it in person instead of these laptop computer speakers. Maybe I'll connect to my Apple TV and see how it sounds for reals.... anyway I'm sold!

Drone? This setup is quieter than stock when cruising lol. There will be no drone!

    Thanks, Agreed!

Thanks. Definitely sounds better in person than on videos. That's for sure.
I listened to it on my computer with Harmon kardon speakers and it was pretty on point. It sounds great, just wish it was a little louder. Maybe it will get louder, I havn't driven on it much yet.

Nice job on the install and write up. Truck sounds as nice as it looks. Keith is the Tundra exhaust GOD ! His shop is only 30 min up the freeway and waiting for his next open house/bbq......He is an exhaust and grill master :sandwich:. Sorry, couldn't find a bbq pic.

I agree. Bought mine from him 6 months ago and the the thing sounds amazing. The best part of it is when I start it up after a few days of not driving it and it growls at me.

It literally took me 30 minutes to take off my stock exhaust and put on the budget system.

Nice write up and pics @BlueBottle .....sounds great.

I would love to have a little more growl but worried about too much of a volume increase while towing, locked in 5th gear @ 2500 RPM cruising down the highway for extended periods of time.

My 8" system has less drone than the stock exhaust so I think if you wanted to get any exhaust, DD is the way to go!

For me I want to hear a little more of what the engine and transmission are doing. So for me towing with a little more volume to the exhaust let me know what's going on. That way you can even tell if the converter is locking and unlocking by the sound of the exhaust note. Hurry up @dirtydeeds !! Lol I can't wait!

The budget is a weird animal. It really howls when you're on it but once you're at highway speeds, it basically shuts off. After I got mine on, I went up the street at a pretty good click and actually thought that I didn't put it on right because it sounded loud and poppy. I learned that if you lean into the acceleration just like you would normal driving, it sounds great.

The only thing I don't necessarily like about it is that it's not noticeably loud while at idle. However, I do appreciate that fact while I'm at a drive thru.

The selling point was when I called Keith at 9pm and he picked up and talked to me about the different systems and gave me options. He had it shipped to my front door in less than a week.

As a bonus, the system seems to sound better and better as I drive it. I've put about 5k on my truck and the thing couldn't sound better.

Thanks for your reply. I wish someone in my area has a standard budget, I really want to hear one in person. Sounds good according to your description.

On a side note, I drove mine for a good drive on the freeway and it sounds better and better. Its perfect when cruising on the freeway, I can actually hear wind and my tires now lol. Before I never heard wind because of my MBRP exhaust. Just curious how the other BAmufflers sound now...

    thanks for the replies guy

the nice thing about any BAmufflers systems, you're never stuck with them. If too loud, too quiet, too anything, just give a call and I'll exchange it for something else based on your feedback. We literally make anything for Tundras

Just ordered my budget system a couple hours ago. I really liked the dual out the side but my stupid steps would get in the way.

@dirtydeeds the budget system would bolt up to your JBA long tube's and mid pipes correct? Just in case I want to replace those next year. I may order that Bully Dog tuner in July before our 5 day trip to the dunes.
    Thanks again!!!!

Hi George, the budget system will bolt up no problem. But, you may want to run mufflers, will be very loud;)
