No just a baseline to see which direction the turbo tundra is going off road or highway.

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
I don’t see any need for a higher ratio in low range for crawling than what is currently found in the current Tundra.

Put me down in the camp of guys who would not rock crawl their daily driver truck. I’d far rather have a versatile reliable Jack of all trades pick up, and a nice trailer to tow my off road toy to its play ground instead.

Pretty much this. I absolutely bought my Tundra to be able to have a versatile reliable truck.....but almost nobody buys a brand new Tundra expecting it to rock crawl (stock, anyways).

Serious question, do you really need 4LO in Florida aside from sanding conditions?

Nice, we just did Bulldog Canyon earlier this year, did you go all the way through it or turn around?

I did the whole 8.3 miles, but it took me longer than 54 minutes LOL. I entered from the North Gate and went South. I think that is the easier direction to travel. Had I entered from the opposite direction I would have turned around at the climb about 2 miles in from the South entrance. I started from the top and just rolled and banged down LOL. When I got to the bottom I looked back and was like F-That!! Route 10 if I remember correctly.

We have lots of mud, and there are hunting trails/roads. Maybe not 100% required, but nice to have.

We entered the West entrance, and wheeled to the south assembly area with the sandy mini dunes. Our first time to do it, not sure if that's an easier route, but I found out real quick I needed to remove the mudflaps, and there was one gnarly section.

I used to live in Apache Junction, oddly I didn't know bulldog canyon existed....

Crawl control did pretty good around smith mtn lake but mostly just gets annoying and turned off

Old logging roads and slick red mud. Not too rocky

In the Tundra I don't use it that much, only when i need better slow speed control or the load on the truck is too much for high range. Most of the time I want wheelspeed on demand and high range works better for that.

But other trucks I have wheeled needed low range. They were either manual transmissions or didnt have enough power in high range. Run a bigger, more aggressive tire on a truck with 100hp and it can't spin them without low range.

You're not wheelin' hard enough my man. :D

The only vehicle on that list that would be able to take advantage of a lower crawl ratio is the jeep wrangler. It's the only one in a factory or slightly modified configuration that could traverse actual crawling obstacles. Everything else isnt built for it IMO. Something that would be far more useful however would be a factory locking rear diff and/or a real limited slip option. It's almost a crime that Toyota doesn't offer one because a pickup truck can get stuck on wet grass in 2wd.

Agreed. Wish they would delete crawl control and use the dollars for the front/back lockers Would probably be cheaper

The new Tacoma SR5 Trail Edition, with a lift, rear locker, skid plates and bronze TRD wheels is garnering excellent reviews, many of which specifically mention they'd rather have the locker and the trail control gizmos are totally not needed. Also, many prefer the cloth interior over the mandatory leather in a Pro.
I would be giddy if Toyota makes a SR5 Trail Edition Tundra. I just want a locker with my mid-level truck.

Just because you can do something doesn't mean you're good at it. A half ton truck is not a good rock crawler, all the dimensions are less than ideal.

Now of course if you hit a patch of rocks on the nice trail run you won't be screwed since it has the same crawl control the Tacoma has, but heading specifically for rock crawling there's much better vehicles out there.

As I see it the turbo tundra is going to be king of the wind tunnel not mountain. Doubt she will stray from Toyotas other off roaders up to this point and will likely get highway gearing made for highspeed wheeling whatever that is and highway cruising. Gearing may even be lower on the pro to offset the extra power.

How it works. Guys in mid size trucks complain about full size trucks clogging the trails. Jeeps complain about mid size trucks. Razors complain about jeeps. Motos complain about razors. Guys on the trials bikes just climb over everyone.
