As for the ceramic and graphene question, I'm going to try the 303 Graphene spray on my truck to see how it works, and I have a Color N Drive ceramic kit on order for the Expedition. Will keep you updated on thoughts on both products.

I'm thinking about ordering a 5" backing plate for my Bauer DA polisher and ordering a handful of 5.5" buffing pads. I'm not loving the 6" that it came with or the bigger pads.

    Y'all will enjoy this.

My in-laws came into town this past weekend and drive a Barcelona Red 4Runner Limited. They live in the mountains (think salt mix in the winter) and have a monthly automatic car wash subscription so that they can go as often as they want. I don't 100% hate this because it includes an undercarriage wash that leaves the underside looking mostly new. However, I fully hate it for the paint.

I couldn't just leave it alone. I wish I had gotten a before picture, but I didn't. The best representation of how the car looked before was found under the door handle:
    jXTF0zfjiJzBw_OsSW32iv-44ViAW6JCrmGWfpC-_84d440dd9e50e64fa8cf7c99b926a581768c5f41.jpg

It was just light scratches galore all over the paint. The side panels that faced upward and the back hatch were the worst. The hood was in pretty bad shape too.

    Here's the after:
    2OgltmxRNdHWZHd-0BqOehNcNY3M2UcScfSD0c7D_c63e0b6e01dcb34bdfc93a969e17944501e50490.jpg

    qmiOQcR3NnFxJAOHIfOjL-PfH4a2UZtRyzm6msyL_c2c1beb40823f5888de347fa526740a2a7c0b1c9.jpg

You can still see some of the scratches if you look up close, but it looks SO much better. Bringing that paint back to life was very satisfying. I recommended that they not go through the car wash so often, but I'm fairly certain that fell on deaf ears. I just hope it doesn't look like it did when I go visit for Thanksgiving in a couple of months.

Started with Meguiars Gold Class wash in the foam cannon for my FiL's enjoyment. He loved the foam cannon. Then took it inside the garage for some Meguiars Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Polish and hybrid ceramic wax.

I also recommended that they replace the tires on the driver side as both of those were worn down below an acceptable level. The passenger side were low, but not quite as bad.

The only difference is these lights have high CRI output. Has to do with how well the LED light can mimic natural light source to be able to see different colors better. They're mainly used for paint shops, but their CRI levels let scratches and swirls be seen better. They mimic natural light better so the idea is to use these indoors so you know it'll look good when it's sitting out in the sun.

Edit: next correction we have (Saturday) I'll take comparison shots of a simple LED light I used to use (1500 lumens) versus the paint match light (500 lumens) on all 3 color temperature settings. The difference is unreal. Lumens just dictate how much light gets put out.

I tried the 303 graphene and found it sticky, ( not slick.. if that's the right wording). Ended up giving it to my brother and went back to 3 in 1. But that's just my experience.

my neighbor used it as well and found it to have the same results. it lasted around 3-5 months and he just ceramic coated his vehicle. he said it worked well while it was on there, but application/removal had him 2nd guessing immediately.

The smaller backing plate and pads are a good move. You will like the switch. I tried 303 Graphene....durability was average, and the removal kind of sucked. I've gotten similar durability, with a much better user experience, with Wolfgang SIO2 Sealant. Recently, I used Xtreme Solutions LVR403 as a base layer and used Dr Beasleys ls-10 spray coating, and am much happier with those results. Gloss retention is much better than with the 303 Graphene.

I may or may not already have the 303 on order. So I guess I'll see if my experience is similar.

Looks great sir! I know your pain with them not heeding your advice. I’ve seen too much of my work get erased because the owner goes right back to automatic car washes after I get done with their car.

While that is a nice offer, I'm thankful that I don't live in NJ. Though I know a few good dudes who do.

They agreed to not go as often. So I fully expect it to be erased, but that's ok. It isn't my car.

    TUF Shine Tire Appearance Kit

I like how it's fully dry on the tire.

Have yet to see it's durability and how it cleans up after driving a dirt road.

Had a chance to test out the new goodies on a hammered 2015 Audi A8 with 117k miles in for a one step correction and coating. For a recap, I picked up the following:
    Angelwax Redemption (fine polish)
    Angelwax Resurrection (heavy cut compound)
    Angelwax Regenerate (medium cut compound)
    Uro 50/50 pads (sizes 5" 3" and 2")
Rotary adapters (extends length to 5" 3" or 1.25")
Lake country rotary backing plates (5" and 3")
Lake Country low lint lambswool pads (5" 3" and 2")

For anyone interested, Angelwax is complete fire. The hood was taxed so I did a multistage on that to return it back to almost show room worthy (some harsh chipping and drag marks that need wetsanding but this was freebie work so I'm not going that far with it). Resurrection on a 5" lambswool pad with the rotary with the 1.25" extension was incredibly smooth. It finished almost perfect, which was crazy for a heavy cut wool pad/compound combination. Moved on to HDO orange and Redemption to fine polish and it was unbelievable. Excellent correction and finishing with almost no dust and easy wipe off. They're expensive but I'm sold on Angelwax. The Meguiar's line has its place but I'll be ordering these by the gallon now.

The new rotary setup was so nice, I never touched my DA setup the entire time. 5" Uro 50/50 pads made up 80% of the work on the car. Unbelievable cut with a crisp finish. Love these new pads. Some harsher spots on the vehicle I swapped out to a fresh 50/50 pad and used 2 dabs of Regenerate with 2 dabs of Redemption. The result was an insane amount of cut for what would be considered a one step with a smooth finish. Took a bit longer but I only used this combination on some heavy hitting spots while keeping within my timeframe and the customer's package. Tighter areas got hit with the 3" Uro/3D One combo on the rotary with 5" extender or the Flex rotary attachment and 2" Uros.

We will be coating the vehicle tomorrow and tying it all together and I'll post those photos over on the reflection thread. I'll give some reviews on the Owner's Pride retail product line at that time (glass, tire shine).

Sorry for the long read, just an update for some folks that I know would be interested. Here's the Audi once we completed polishing this evening (not coated, we got a late start and ran out of the daylight necessary to check the coating so we will do that early in the AM tomorrow). @briarpatch @War Machine @ToyoMafia

Went ahead and took some comparisons of the light modes and a regular LED light. 2015 Audi A8 with 117k miles. The pictures don't show as much detail (phone got wrecked at work and auto focus got messed up so I tried my best to get decent photos to show the difference here). 1000 less lumens but the high CRI and temp settings all show different issues. All pics taken at the exact same spot.

Thanks for the review of the Angelwax line. I've always wondered if they are worth the coin or not. As I've gotten older, I'm looking to consolidate and try to stick to fewer product lines. I get very few multi-step corrections, but this combo looks like a winner for the times that I do.

I'm guessing the 'CG' means Chemical Guys......did you buy the HexLogic Quantum pads or the regular ones?

No....it was just a matter of preference....I preferred the HexLogic Quantums....thought (because of the hole in the middle) they dissipated heat better. Started with the regular HexLogic and they worked very well.

I'm clearly in an acquiring stuff mode.

I don't need soap right now. I still have plenty of Megs Gold Class soap, which I've been pleased with the foaming ability. I also have some Turtle Wax (I think) soap that I like for non-foam cannon use.

That said, I have not used a true "foam cannon" soap and the Adams is on Amazon Lightning Deal for the next few hours.

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SPY1CL...K5H&ref_=sbx_be_s_sparkle_mcd_asin_0_img&th=1

Even on sale, it's $13.71 for the 16 oz bottle or $50.56 for the gallon (128 oz).

The Chemical Guys Mr Pink is down to like $7 right now for the 16 oz. bottle. https://www.amazon.com/Chemical-Guy...t=&hvlocphy=9011040&hvtargid=pla-297737364469

I've previously hated Chemical Guys because my first impression with them was their glass cleaner, which is absolute garbage. However, I'm starting to change my tune on them. I think all Chemical Guys soap is like $9.99 at Walmart on the regular.

Is the Adams worth the extra $3 over the normal price of the Chemical Guys? Obviously that is subjective and I'm sure not many people would notice a difference. ("oh look, soap.")

I've seen very good reviews on YouTube (Hawaii Tesla & detailing channel) of the Adams MegaFoam. In a car soap, I typically do not want gloss enhancers.....I want nothing left behind. Probably the best value out there is Meguiars HyperWash....outstanding dilution ratios, good lubricity, cleaning power, foaming and rinses very cleanly. To answer your question, I doubt you would see much of a difference in your bucket, but I think you will in the foam cannon. It would be worth the extra 3.00 (to me) just to find out.

As a side note.....Autogeek.net is having a 25 percent off sale, no minimum, with 4.95 flat rate shipping. A gallon of HyperWash would cost you around 31.00 shipped to your door.
