What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

That looks really good. I had a softopper on my Tacoma and loved it but haven't decided whether I want to get one for the Tundra, I like being able to lock the bed with the tri-fold now.

 

NICE! I know it's only been a couple days, but how are you liking the Falken tires? Did I steer you wrong on them? I'm always worried that I've given bad advice because I'm not being observant enough or something.

I 2nd the Falken Wildpeak AT3 tires. They're a bit heavier, I believe, than the stock Michelin tires, but for the price they were reliable as hell on my previous truck. Plenty of traction in most all conditions.

 

You are going to really like this suspension. I just installed and couldn't be more happier

 

AJT blackout kit. It looks great but I will say be very careful when doing climate control knobs and 4x4 switch. Especially 4x4 switch, there are 2 springs and 2 little plastic tits that sit on top of the springs. I couldn't find anything really mentioning them in any detail. But if you don't put them back and you don't reralize you dropped them it can turn into a long night.

 

I 3rd the Falken Wildpeak AT3W tires. I've been running them for almost 2 years in the 275/60R20 size. I use mine as a daily driver and I offroad most every weekend year round as well.

 

This is just manual fold, less things that will break lol. And besides, I rarely fold my mirrors.

That seems to be the method most people are going with. You’ll have to update us if you try your other method and how good it works. I’ll get some soon and thought about having someone fab up some brackets, but not sure I want to pay for that. Zip ties are cheap and effective.

 

My Tundra’s bed has Line-X, and when I got my bedrug in 2015 it didn’t come with the adhesive promoter or those longer strips of velcro, just little square patches of velcro. I’m guessing that may be why after a short while or so the bedrug almost flew off at highway speed. The tailgate piece never really stayed on from the beginning, either. I now keep a Diamondback cover on most of the time, though, so no worries of it flying off anymore.

Despite that, I still love that bedrug. It’s held up really well after 6 years of abuse, spills, dirt, mud, sand, destructive kids, cargo hauling, camping trips - you name it. Definitely one of the best and most useful mods if you use the truck’s bed a lot. I may just get some of that adhesive promoter and new strips of velcro for those few times I have the Diamondback cover off.

sweet, how does it sit? Keep the fronts at the height out of the box? Did you lift the rear at all? Love to see a picture. I like some rake, so am thinking I may need to get some shackles, just do not want a nose high truck. I realize I can adjust the fronts down, but would prefer the higher ride.

 

Ill 3rd on the Wildpeaks. Probably one of the best aggressive AT tires I have run. Quiet for how aggressive they are and ride and handle well. Looking forward to some snow this winter- 3 peak rated!

 

At 22k miles on mine now. They were great last winter and have been awesome all spring and summer too.

I’ll pile on the Falken Wildpeak train. I’ve had mine on for around 23k miles and they still look great. Awesome performance off road, pretty quiet for an aggressive AT on road, and no problems in rain. Granted I have no experience with them in the snow, others have said they perform great there as well.

 

Ordered me some new LED Alpha Rex Headlights and Tail Lights today.... I think they will help with the de-chrome process.... still have them shiddy chrome door handles and having a hard time justifying the cost to replace them with OEM Toyota replacements.

 

Painters tape, some patience, and plastidip is all that's needed. I didn't want to rip open the door panel on the front, so I improvised. If you tape the whole handle, the just use an exacto knife and cut carefully along the chrome bits, you can get a very clean finish. Rear handles are a no-brainer to remove. Just... take your time. I rushed the front handles, and some coats were a little too thick, so the edges are rough on close inspection. I may redo them. The rears are near perfect.

This covers just the chrome. I'm sure you could get the same result if you wanted the entire handle done as well.

how was doing the middle console? i hate my chrome shift gate and cup holder trim, not because it's chrome, but because of the ridiculous glare.

 

I was just looking at these today. How is the operational feel of the switches? I saw an older post of a Tacoma guy complaining that they didn't feel as good as OEM and that the black was also shinier than the dash. How long did it take to get them once you ordered them? Thanks.

 

Do they dim along with the factory dash lights?

 

You did not steer me wrong. The Discount Tire price match of Wally World at $230 per tire was fabulous. I was worried whether a full spare would fit under the bed but it does. Definitely not as high brow of a ride but not as tough as I thought they would be. Noisier than the princess Dunlops but not terrible noise. So far I like the Falkens.

 

The two I got operate very smooth, way better than the Amazon ones (I think Nilight?) I replaced. As far as the finish, yeah they’re a little more satin than matte, but I can’t see any switch panels in my truck when I’m driving to be bothered, and they look close enough to the rear window switch to work.

 

I assume so, but haven’t checked that. They run off the illumination circuit and should behave like the OEM ones.

 

I removed one side of my bushwacker fender flares and I think I like it... will put back the mud flaps if I do.... what do you all think?

 

Glad to hear it! Moving to an AT from stock was bound to cause more noise, but I don't think I notice it with the DD exhaust on there.
