A picture of the Fender Flare straight out of the box. Just held temporarily (2 screws and duct tape on the top) so it does look a little wonky and not snug and perfectly fit.

Stood back to have a good look and……it just doesn’t look as good as I think it will Color Matched. It looks to me like the truck, with the flare black, that the wheel wells are HUGE.

Like some feedback on your opinions with the flares black. Could even try dipping them Dark Gray but I’ll have to think about that so maybe I’ll just cut out a piece of cardboard the same size as the flare and spray it gray to see what it looks like.

Anyway here’s a few pictures with the Black Flare right out of the box. Bushwacker OE Style 30917-02

I'm going to be honest with you because you want honest opinions.
With that specific model of flair, because it is so compliant with the body lines, I would paint them to match the truck.
With your photos, it looks like the truck has humongous wheel wells with tiny tires inside.
That's me, others may say different.

Agreed, they definitely accentuate the size of the wheel wells. Time for 35s!

So it sounds like you’re saying exactly the same thing I was thinking and said in my post. I already got a price quote for a paint and I’ll give them a call to make an appointment. Painter needs to do some spray outs to make sure it’s as close as possible.

Always good to hear from others especially when it confirms my own thoughts. Great minds think alike!

On today’s menu……Delicious TRD Dual Exhaust. Now that was a Fun mod. My first time playing around with the exhaust and very much to my surprise it was super easy.
First thing I did was spray paint the pipe ends so it’s all black on the part of the pipe that shows.

Everything came apart easily since the truck is brand new. No soapy water for the hangers, they all easily pulled apart and the new parts went back in no problems.

Although the new bracket and hanger on the drivers side was a pain to fit my hands into since I didn’t lower the spare. Very tight area so I just took my time.

Install took around 2 hours. I did one step, stopped to read the next step and then the next. So I’m sure if I ever did it again it would take half the time. I used a tie down strap, one of those thumb release jobs, so as soon as the muffler was unbolted it didn’t drop whatsoever. Then with the press of my thumb it slowly came down to the ground. Worked great and better than coming down on my head!

Definitely recommend another person tho, after I was done I did notice that the passenger side is a little lower. So next time I have a helper around I’ll loosen up one side, have them hold the exhaust tip in the correct position and then while they hold it I’ll retighten it up. Shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes.

I really enjoyed doing this mod. Easy peasy……even a girl can do it. Hahahahahehehehe

Your making a good number of guys here feel a little uneasy lol.
Good work, should be proud when you do your own work. It feels better when it's home grown. You have an eye for the little details that make a project what we call in the Biker business "Zoot Capri".

Dipped my emblem overlays Dark Gray as well as the tailgate letter! The dark gray looks good IMO against the Cement. Plus 99% just go with the stock black overlays.

Since I had the dip on hand why not give it a try. Tried gunmetal Gray which was much liter too lite actually so dark gray was the winner!

Nice truck. Just picked up a Trail Edition two weeks ago. Cement is the best color. I removed the Trail boxes too.

Picked up my new Color Matched Mirror Covers from the dealership parts department this morning! Compared the back side/fasteners to the chrome covers and it looked identical except for one flat tab on the center bottom of the covers. I’m guessing that the tab was only used for alignment purposes. It serves no other purpose as far as I can see. It does not fasten/lock to the housing so other than that it’s a perfect fit.

First thing I did was put 2 coats of wax on them prior to the install. Figured easier now without all that Black trim around them and Black Trim does not go well with wax. No bigger pain in the butt than waxing your vehicle and accidentally getting wax on the Black Trim. Ouch that hurts…

$40 each so $80 plus Mass Tax. Here’s the part numbers for anyone interested.

    Part Number 87945-0C0040-B3 & 87915-0C060-B3

What a Beautiful day! Sunshine and above average temps. So I was able to get this project underway and all wrapped in about an hour and a half. Really really took my time and it all went smoothly.

Very happy with the outcome! A couple pictures of the “job complete”.

Oh and the most important part of the job…..labeling and bagging

It was a pricey project but I’m very happy with it. Maybe I’ll be able to recoup a couple bucks with the sale of the old style pro grille and the chrome bulge & surround

They are not fastened together……just sitting next to each other. Didn’t want to assemble them since I’m not sure anyone will be interested in the chrome stuff……then again you never know.

The mirror cover part numbers I posted on post 856. I use parts toyota Boch South’s prices (lowest I could find) and my local dealership matches prices. No shipping, only a short drive and I’m usually running errands nearby, so that works out great.

I’d call your dealership and see if they will price match. Maybe you can even find someone with lower prices.

Anyway I’ll PM you all the other parts info.

Yes, I bought the color matched grill surround and Sport grille from Sparks. Kept the Toyota emblem from my limited grille and TSS worked great.

Yesterday The Devil’s Backbone got a wash and a coat of sealer.

Today another coat of sealer and 2 Coats of Wax!

Also installed the Drivers Side Grab Handle and my seatbelt pads. Now I need a bolt/washers/nut so I can install my tow cover. Went with the flag/Pledge of Allegiance which actually matches the front plate on my other Toyota.
