I finally changed the headers on my 2000 Tundra 4.7l. The most difficult part to understand was how to get around the motor mount on the driver's side.

First: do not jack up the vehicle, keep the truck on the ground with the tires on the vehicle. You will need a break bar, a wrench, and a long 14mm socket.

Second: remove oil filler stick, remove heat shield on OEM header, and remove mid pipe.

Take the wrench and the long socket to the last two header bolts by getting under the truck and turning the wrench sideways, putting the socket on the bolt. Then go above to the engine bay and pull the wrench from above to get enough leverage to remove the two bolts under the engine mount.

Doesn't look like I can get images on here..

I found it easy just to support the motor with a jack and a block of wood, then remove the mount. Which headers did you run?

Went with JBA shorties. Did removing the mounts help with torque specs?

I set the torque by feel, didn't see a good way to get the only torque wrench I had in there. I tried a crows foot but got tired of fumbling with it. Pulling the mount gave me lots of room though, I should have done it on the passenger side too but that side was easy.

You 2WD guys have an unfair advantage with this job. Much harder with axles and differential blocking the view of even seeing some of the bolts.

Like Luis said, torque by feel, goodentite was how I torqued mine. I also removed the motor mounts per his instructions. I get to do the driver side again this winter to put my thickness gasket on. 33ED99CF-F13A-4B18-89C2-380388213804.jpg
