I have a 2017 Platinum. I noticed that my BSM wasn't working this morning and the light on the switch on the dash isn't lighting up. It worked fine the last time I drove the truck, now it doesn't seem to have power to the switch. Is there a fuse possibly? I can't find anything labeled for the BSM in the two fuse panels. There is no error code on the dash saying it's malfunctioning.

Not sure how to troubleshoot this as I cannot find anything online.

    Thanks,

Did you accidentally turn it off in the settings on the dash?

I have tried to find the settings in the dash. It appears they are different for different years? I read the owners manual as well.

Shoot me a pic of your dash. I feel like I could walk you through it

That is the main screen, and then using the DISP button to get to the settings that only shows the Language, Units, and Exit selections. Other selections moving through using the DISP button are all just mpg, miles to empty, current mileage, things like that.

Do you have a BSM button to the left of the steering wheel?

Yes and it is pushed in, but no light. The LED doesn't come on now, and it did before this started.

Are you able to pop the switch out and inspect it, maybe it's not engaging properly?

Nothing wrong with the switch, but finding the power is difficult. Its a tiny area to get too and I didn't want to take a chance on breaking a plastic tab. There are about 6 wires going into the back of that switch.
I may wind up having to take it to the dealer, but I don't trust what they would find anyway, so I am reluctant.

I was going to say maybe a fuse but it doesn't look like BSM is on it's own circuit. It pulls its power from the ECU-IG No.1 fuse (7.5A). So if it had failed you would likely have a host of other problems too. Bad switch? Maybe wire issue? Without troubleshooting it is hard to say for sure.

I got the same thing going on with my BSM, no power to the switch. What is the location you found?

Well, that connector in the wiring diagram is behind the radio. I didn't want to pull all that out, so I took mine to the dealer and he followed the power to the rear sensor, so I have power through the switch and back to the sensor. He predicted the master sensor is bad, so I have ordered a new one, then will take it back to the dealer to install and calibrate. The reason I ordered the part separately, is I could save money by ordering it and removing the plastic bumper cover. He told me when they remove them, it breaks the tabs off the botton, so they just replace them. That cover costs 370.00 so I decided I will remove it myself and take my time as to not break the tabs off because it will save me from buying that part. It's still going to be expensive to fix though which sucks on a truck with less than 20k miles. I tried calling Toyota to see if they would help with any of the costs, and they said it's not under warranty, so they won't help...well no kidding...I knew that before I called them.

Well, to update, my issue turned out to be a rodent chewing the wires leading to the passenger side sensor. It was found after the new sensor did not change the symptoms. The dealer spliced the wires to resolve the problem, but I did spend 704.00 (1107.00 MSRP) for a sensor that I don't need. If anyone has a broken sensor and needs one, I will sell this one at a lessor price than I paid.

My BSM has just recently decided to stop working as well. Does anyone know what the dealership charges to repair?

Depends on what's broken. If it's a wire splice like the OP, then it'll be labor charges, if it's a broken sensor it'll be way more. You have to find out why it's not working to find our what it'll cost.

Thanks. I am curious about the cost of the sensor(s). I know noting about the sensor system so I need to dig in and learn a little before I can even ask a question that will make sense to you knowledgeable guys.

OP did say the sensor they bought was $704 if that's what you're after.

Retail on the sensor at the dealer is 1100.00. I ordered mine online from a dealer that gives discounts and paid 704.00. My issue however turned out to be a wiring issue, so I still have the sensor I bought if you wind up needing one and want to save some money.
