I know this is an old post but I had to remove a panel thanks to a hit and run on my truck. A pair of 11 inch needle nose pliers with a 90 degree bend made removal of the center plastic piece on the rear bumper a piece of cake. Just make sure someone keeps the clips from popping back in. It only took me a few minutes to remove it.

I know this is an old post, but can i ask how did you fix it? I just replaced a sensor in my front bumper and im now getting this error message as well. No trouble codes in techstream for me on either for any of the blindspot ECUs. Is it something simple like unplugging the battery for 30 seconds or something?

    Thanks!

If you replaced one with a new one, it needs calibrated. Take it to a dealer.

Just called my dealership, quoted 400 bucks to recalibrate the sensors. Think i may live without them!

Was he clear it was just one sensor, or did he quote the whole system?

I was told the entire system has to be re-calibrated.

I really appreciate this tutorial. I completed the chrome delete on my '18 TRD Sport last week. I had the chrome bumpers powdercoated for $300. The hardest part was that I had to choose the color from a peg board of white samples. I spent an hour in the parking lot to make my choice. Not perfect, but I will take it. I had them powder coat the wheels as well. I'm very happy with the outcome.

I looked at that option. Partsgeek looks a good bit cheaper than where I was looking. I would check with them and see if they are painted before I ordered. When I talked with Sparks Parts, it was going to coast +$1000 for the end caps painted. That is why I went with powder coating.

Started this process to remove chrome ends off my 2019 Tundra front bumper and replace with Cement Grey ones. Bought end caps from: Toyota of Cool Springs: https://parts.toyotaofcoolsprings.com/

Part Number Part Name Price Quantity Total
52112-0C908 END CAP WITH PARKING SENSOR HOLE $114.50 1 $114.50
52113-0C908 END CAP WITH PARKING SENSOR HOLE $114.50 1 $114.50

    Subtotal: $229.00
    Local Pickup: Free
    Tax: $22.33
    Total: $251.33

I got them painted at the Toyota Of Cool Springs Collision Center. https://coolspringscollision.com/
    Final Cost $162.21

Plan to install them this weekend, been watching videos and reading the forums. I'll let you know how it goes.

None as of yet, just purchased
Did you purchase the liner extension seals and fog light clips as suggested by Roman’s Ultimate OEM Toyota parts thread? I’m curious if these are required when replacing the front Chrome end caps or do the original parts usually break off during disassembly?

I just bought the liner extension seals. On the fog lights I just zip tied them. The replacement covers look like this without the new liners. You can see I snapped one off without it, other I would just not worried about it. However if your into details I would recommend getting them.

Hi. After going through this thread, it seems like the front bumper caps cannot be removed without the front bumper center piece. Yay/nay?

That's correct. I tried and it gets stuck between the center piece, and the rear "sub" bumper.

I have the TSS system and was concerned about removing the grille/ sensor and having to recalibrate it.
Fortunately I found this Youtube video that shows you don't have to remove the grille or anything above the front bumper to get it off.

Basically just take out the front-bottom black fender wells and unclip the fog lights and front radar sensors where they attach on the sub-frame (almost straight up from the fog-light location).
Then remove the 3 screws in the center to free the plastic bumper from the engine cover pan.
Lastly there are 4 plain metal [silver color] 12mm bolts per side (8 total).
I'm pretty sure that's all the hardware. Just verify in the youtube vid. Also you do NOT have to remove the tow hooks. That's only for their aftermarket bumper install afterwards.

Put cardboard underneath just in case!
Then (it's better with help but I got it off by myself) swing the bottom of the bumper out a little bit while pulling forward and it rocks the lip on top of the bumper down just enough to clear the grille and side pieces below the headlights. It should come right off.

For re-install I taped the bottom edge of the grille and side pieces just in case and reversed the process however I noticed that getting the end caps back on the sub-frame took come prying on the back side (through the fender well open area where you can get to the fog-light wires and such). I have the chrome end caps and it appeared that they needed to be spread open a little to fit back on.

    Hope this helps someone.

Really good write-up. Fortunately for me I only had to take off the front bumpers to be re-painted to Magnetic Grey. Was fairly easy except I did strip one of the bolts on the bottom by the fog lights and still havent been able to get the damn thing out to this day.
