Got a question for you guys in Florida about window tint...

I know it may differ depending on what county you live in, but what are yalls experiences with Front Windshield tint? How dark? Clear? Police?

Do you have some pictures I can see? I'm not a fan of the Eyebrow on the windshield, so I was looking at getting the whole thing tinted but didn't want to keep getting pulled over. I read on another thread on here saying between 70%-100% is considered clear tint and is okay on the windshield? Is that true?

I'm here in Jacksonville and not 100% how frowned upon it is or isn't.

    Thanks in advanced!

Whole front windshield tint is illegal in all 50 states (except in medically exempted cases). Whether or not you could get away with it not only depends on the county, but it also depends on individual policeman's whim.

This is sort of like speeding. Going over the speed limit is ticketable. Higher you go over the limit, you increase the chance of getting a ticket. If you make the tint subtle, I suppose you could probably get away with it (sort of like going just 5 miles over the speed limit).

Speaking from experiences here; I'm in Georgia. The tint on my truck is is as follows:
    Front doors: 5%
Rear doors and back glass: 20% over the factory tint
    Front windshield: 32% (entire glass)

I got pulled over about 3 weeks ago. Cop said he pulled me over because "you're front door windows look a little dark." He metered my driver's door window...4% according to meter. He wrote me the ticket and told me (which I already knew) that the law states the legal limit is 32% on front doors, as dark as you want on rear doors and back window, nothing on the windshield.

Tinting the windshield obviously makes all the others windows look darker; thus the reason he pulled me over. But even after stating the law to me, he never mentioned the windshield.

So, with all that being said, if you tint the windshield, I would keep it in the 70% range hoping that it doesn't make the rest of your windows appear so dark that it catches the LEO attention. Me, I'm leaving my tint the way it is...but I'm smart like that. Haha

Here's two pics of my last gen 3...windows tinted the exact same as my new gen 3

I'm running 5% on all 5 rear windows and a 35% shield with no strip. Looking in its pretty damn dark no matter what time of the day looking out does not look that bad even at night, but did take me a week to get used to. Never had any run ins with the law about it, I'm in sarasota FL.IMG_0937.jpg IMG_0936.jpg IMG_0751 2.jpg

Nowing that tinting the front qindshield is illegal... i had a installer do my whole windshield then go back over again with just the eyebrow so it was clearly darker at top. Never was pulled over for it. Again this was on old truck I no longer own

If you are just looking to block heat and not trying to limo out your truck, you can do a clear ceramic tint on the windshield. I hear all kinds of good things about the ceramic tint and heat reduction.

The clear is a 70-80 percent. I have it on mine. It still gets warm inside due to heat transfer through the metal but the clear definitely reduces the glare.

You can tell that the windshield is tinted but I have led headlights and foglights. Ill try to get you some pics from the cab and outside the window so that you can compare them.

The ceramic tint is worth every penny. I had the clear done on the moonroofs of all my vehicles. It now makes it fun to drive around with the shade open during the day. I have the 35% ceramic on all other five windows. Again, much cooler inside. I also believe in the heatshield window shade when parked.

I have ceramic tint 5% all around and 35% on the windshield. Being a former LEO here in TN its not that big of an issue. The reason most states have tint laws on the books is because officers that work interdiction use it as probable cause for stopping vehicles to make it easier to find large amounts of narcotics or large sums of cash. Its also been argued as an officer safety issue as well with interacting with occupants of a vehicle.

Ceramic tint from the inside looking out is almost identical to no tint at all and does not cause any visual implement. Regular tint is a different story though.

I am in South Carolina and tinted windshields are on every make and model of vehicle you can imagine here. My vehicles are tinted all the way around for the last ten years and I’ve never had a problem. I’ve also never been pulled over doing anything, so that helps also. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. For example, squealing tires in the mall parking lot? Think looks dark. Quad 12 inch woofers boomin at 2am? Think looks dark. Swerving? Tint looks dark. And so on and so on.

I have 50% ceramic on my windshield. I love it. Makes the glare from night driving so much better but I can still see perfectly
