Yeah, the UV exposure in the desert southwest will expose weaknesses very quickly on exposed parts especially but if you think about the conditions a crank pulley operates under constantly it's incredible how well-designed and engineered they are.

    Now that's funny.

Weep hole. It’s actually normal… it’s coolant that gets past the seal for the shaft. Instead of it collecting at the seal and drying and causing a total seal failure it works itself out through that weep hole

I've seen coolant cone from weep holes but never saw it look like that. Then again I've only seen two weeping weepholes.

It’s just the way the Toyota coolant crusts up.

I can't seem to find the Drivers side crank sensor under the Denso name. This is the only one I can find that I posted about earlier.

Emailed McGeorge to see what they had to say. Anyone of y'all got a part number?

Did some more sleuthing... I have ZERO intention of buying from the rainforest. I just used that to actually look at a picture of the sensor. Here's a link.

Lexus 19300-50020, Engine Camshaft Position Sensor

Found it on RA also. Here's a link to the "overview" page. Camshaft Position Sensor overview. There's a few different brands, but the one that stands out to me is the NTK one for $53.79.

Here's a link to the NTK one directly.

    Here's a McGeorge link. toyota-camshaft-position-sensor-1930050020 $111.94

    Thoughts?

Investigated pictures from shitty JVC and noticed that the wiring harness ends were the same. Went ahead, and test fit the new Kenwood without doing up the new wiring harness.

There's a little bit of a gap, but I think it's gonna be fine. The important thing is that I didn't cut the bezel to make it fit like a fuckin crack head.

Need to go through the settings and change the back light rotation to a single color.

I found a a weeping weephole on my 2006 when I did the timing belt last week. Truck only had 62,000 miles on it too. I guess it does happen occasionally.

That one point was my major beef with my last (never again) Kenwood, any time the battery cable is pulled, there's so much crap to go back in and change. My best friend next door has lots of complaints with his Kenwood in the same line as yours but I didn't want to be the schmuck who was, like, "Yo that stereo you just bought ... "

Crazy the harnesses is a match between the two brands! But maybe the car stereo world is becoming like the home Appliance world, where 2 brands make 90% of units?

I doubt you'll notice the gap once you get your brackets and permanently install, but if t drives you nuts, there are some options you can use like felt or the fuzzy size of velcro to "smooth" things over.

I feel like the unit will sit a couple mm forward after final install? It looks a bit too deep-set to me.

I remember you mentioning something about a neighbor and Kenwood. I'm thoroughly enjoying the single din in the Corolla virus though which is why I went with Kenwood. If I hadn't stopped off at best buy and Fiddled with radios in person getting a feel for them I probably wouldn't have bought any at all. Lol

    Here's pics from the corolla.

I've made up my mind to order OEM for this as I've been unable to find for sure that NTK made that camshaft sensor. My gut instinct says that NTK did make it, but without documentation (such as Aisin) I'll pay the toyota surcharge.

I think I'll also order a gear shift assembly. I replaced the gear shift lever because the O/D switch didn't work consistently. Tightened up the torx screw and there was still plenty of slop in the mechanism. My V6 is still tighter than a Virgin. Lol

Emailed mcgeorge and found that this was the mechanism for it.

Before I place my McGeorge order... Is there anything else that I should include on the list. Below is a list of what I have on hand currently, or on order.
    1. Aisin TB/WP Kit. (On Hand)
    2. Aisin Hyd. Tensioner (On Hand)
    3. Toyota Oil pan FIPG (Recco'd by @empty_lord) (On Hand)
    4. Aisin Thermostat with seal (On Hand)
    5. New Aisin Fan bracket as the studs came out with the fan clutch. (On Order)
Here's what I plan to order from McGeorge soon.
    1. Shift mechanism as posted above.
    2. Camshaft position sensor.

I'll inspect the alternator brushes when I get home. Possibly order that also. Any thing else you all can think of?

The plan for today when I get home is to remove the camshaft Position Sensor, and inspect it. See if I can de-pin the connector and then put some kind of abrasion coating on the wiring to prevent this in the future.

I'll see what I can scavenge up here at work. May use some self Vulcanizing tape which will only stick to itself, and is incredibly heat resistant. We use it on heater wires at work for the extrusion lines. Those are routinely around 500°F+

    Not worthless, good to know.

For a decade or two now I've passed by the Kenwood Factory Outlet building on the interstate in ATL which I'm fairly certain is abandoned at this point. There's a Technics/Panasonic building off the interstate somewhere up here too. I can't keep tabs on who is doing what these days.

So, sounds like maybe this turning into home appliances land. Where Electrolux and one other company make damn near everything.

Sucks nobody makes 1.5 DIN radios anymore. I really wish there were some 1.5 DIN options out there on touch screens, I might not have sold a few vehicles along the way.

This is self Vulcanizing tape. It's silicone based, and extremely durable. It only sticks to itself.
