It can be installed if your truck does not have one, but most do not install the factory controllers, they generally work ok but there are much better ones available. a P3 controller works much better and is not expensive.

I just purchased a P3 on AutoZone last night while they are offering 20% off. $115 before tax for the controller, $18 for the harness on Amazon.

I put a Redarc trailer brake controller in my ‘07 Tacoma. This was my first venture in to towing. I found the Redarc controller very easy to install, and use.

They make one that will work on a 2014 Tundra

I don’t believe that the 2014 has the harness and program for the OEM brake controller. 2015 was the first year it was advertised in the brochures I think. My 2015 was advertised as having it but it didn’t come with it. I was able to buy the controller in 2016 and installed it. Program and harness made it a plug and play, easy peasy install

Many of us don't care for the factory brake controller. If you have to buy one, I would get one that you know will work well. The factory may work for your application but why take the chance, you might end up replacing it after trying it.

I just purchased a new dash piece with the insert for the factory brake controller for $25 at the local toyota dealership and found the P3 insert piece on eBay for another $25 as the price has gone up with ESP.
