    Hello everybody,
I’m Chris and I’m Tundra owner.

    I need for help!!!

Right now I own Tundra DoubleCap that I bought new in 2012. It has 195k miles. This is my primary vehicle.

I decided to buy new Super white TRD PRO Tundra crewmax early this year. I placed the order for it in April.
Dealer told me that I will have to wait from 12 to 14 weeks to get it.
I called dealer after 16 weeks and they told that I have to wait few more weeks maybe mounts but I will get it for sure by the end of this year.
They called week ago that my Tundra will be build starting on 09/13 and I it should be ready for pick on the beginning of October. Great, Right?

2022 Tundra it looks like will be officially released on 20-22 of September (base on rumors). I not sure what to think about New outside look but I like the interior a lot and all new features (wireless charging, 360 view etc). New engine with more power and most likely better fuel economy it will be nice too.

What I should do? Cancel 2021 order and get 2022 instead? I know that means more waiting, but is it worth it?

    PS.
I wish for all of you and for myself only dilemmas like that

Depends on how much more you want to spend on the '22. Sounds to me like your dealer is giving you the run around.

You will not see the 2022 any time soon. Even production of the 2021 has been put on hold.

    I’d vote the opposite!
    1) Who knows how long before the new ones are even reasonably available without wild markup.
    2) Usually first new model years tend to have lots of issues and kinks needing to be worked out…
    3) Lifts, bumpers, and all the other fun goodies won’t likely be available for awhile!

Enjoy that 21 for a couple years and then go get yourself a solid 4th gen once they’ve ironed it out…

    But thats just me…

    This is my vote.

Give it at least 2 years to let them iron out the kinks.

I didn't see it in your initial post but you didn't state if you were trading in your current Tundra. If you are, I suggest getting the '21. If you aren't, it couldn't hurt canceling and trying out the '22.

In a situation where you are left without any mode of transportation, why gamble with the devil you don't know vs. the devil you do.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! I'd stick with what you have. With all of the significant changes being made in the '22, I would wait until at least the '23, and maybe even the '24 model to buy the new gen. I don't have time to be the guinea pig.

It really depends on your preferences, budget, and patience. Only really you can answer this.

My thinking- What I've said in other threads; I ordered an F150 in June and it's delayed to not start build until November now. My manager ordered a Ram in May and it's delayed with no scheduled date. From what I've gathered, the 22 TRD Pro won't be built on initial launch. My dealer I bought my 21 from who didn't charge extra and I paid MSRP for said they already have a list for 22 Tundras of folks willing to pay over MSRP. The highest is $10k on that list.

The 22 Tundra will be sweet. I love the red interior, coil suspension, updated interior, and pano roof. But it surely won't be $57k and it surely won't be around any time soon. I love my 21, especially the color. It's missing some things the 22 will definitely have but it's still a sweet rig. When the time comes, I'll evaluate the 22 and make a decision.

One thing I told myself is this- if I pass on the 21 and wait and don't like the 22 or it's unobtainable I'll be SOL. If I get the 21 I'll either enjoy it and trade it in and take a minimal loss for a 22 or I'll enjoy it and keep it and glad I picked it up when it was available.

There should be a lapse period where you can still buy a new 2021 or a 2022 on the dealer lots? Where dealers are selling leftover 21’s and pushing out new 22’s. That way you should have choices right in front of you literally. In the meantime get the 2012 ready for highest trade in value. Good luck whatever you choose to do.

Thank so much all your input.
V6 vs V8 - for a few days I said to myself I love sound of V8 especially with double exhaust I’m sticking with ‘21 (that would be my heart).
Then I thought that there are a lot things I like about my current Tundra by fuel economy did not made at the list. 11mpg is my average. Between all the tools I’m caring all the time and are where are live (CT).
Turbo charge V6 with 10 speed transmission or even hybrid will be more efficient. I’m getting ‘22 (said my brain)
Talking about availability. I read two articles about Toyota reducing production all off theirs cars in entire world except Texas factory where their are building Tundras.

Around here the only thing sitting on new lots are entry SR5's with RWD.

I would be inclined to pass on the 22 and go for a 21...
Delivery time on 22's will most likely not be any better than the 21's.. inflation and the current state of the economy will continued weaken the dollar and push prices up. Waiting a year or two will give early owners time to expose the issues of a new generation, and the engineers time to refined/revise the design

just my two cents worth "others mileage will vary"

It sounds to me like the Universe is trying to send you a message and you are not listening?

There is a big leap between you putting 200K on your current Tundra AND needing a new one where I sit.

I would keep the one you know and wait to see what shakes out in a while after the new truck is released.

We literally know nothing really about the new trucks.

This is one terrible time to make decisions like this I think.

    Love the One you're With.

I mean if you are getting a truck based off of fuel economy then maybe a truck isn’t best for you. Upgrade the tank then to a 38 gallon

If you can switch the color to lunar rock, then I think it would be worth having that, otherwise I'd probably wait to 22/23/24. Oh and if you can switch the color and it's at MSRP and you don't want it let me know.

Buy a 2021. Your trade in value is super high right now. Even if 2022s will be great they wont be widely available for awhile, you can trade your 2021 in 3 years worst case.

I am a bit biased because I am getting my 2021 in a few weeks.

I do think Ill love the 2022 but I have no confidence in widespread availability until 2023.
