Random thought/question. I remember hearing when I was younger that those hitches that have 3 different balls weren't to be trusted. A single hitch that you swap the balls out on was supposedly much better, so that's what I've always used.

It would seem to me that the 3 way would be more handy to keep on the truck and I don't see why it wouldn't be as safe.

Interesting. I've never heard that these were bad. Not saying they might be, but I see a lot of people using them.

I keep one in my truck just in case and have the others available and prefer using designated ones if I can. I personally don't believe they are unsafe, the only downside is that they don't drop if you have a lower lying trailer.

Difference between the ball being welded to the shank rather than bolted to it? :notsure:

Because it is a fixed size do it all that probably will not have your trailer level, which will affect towing stability.

I have one, they are good for higher trailers and I do use it when I need the extra height. The straight design works well for boats, and other taller trailers, like rentals. But for my utility trailer and pop up, need the drop hitch.

Cool, thanks for the thoughts guys. I can see the straight hitch being a bit problematic for lower trailers. I think I'll stick with my current hitch and swapping balls.

    Trying not to mod it
Used many of them with no I'll effects. As you stated, the downside is there is not drop or rise adjustment.
