Hey I'm new here. I've had my Tundra for going on 4yrs now. It has whole new chassis from Toyota dealership. I been fixing it up some myself along the way. I was changing the grille out today and broke the auxiliary catch release for my hood. Upon doing some searches online I came across this forum and also found out that it has been discontinued from Toyota. So any ideas to where I might find one, thanks in advance.

Best bet if Dorman doesn't sell a replacement may just be going to a nearby junkyard (if they have any 1st Gen in stock) or maybe car-part.com or similar if not.

But others here may have different ideas. Happy to hear about your ability to get the new frame!

    Welcome....

Is the below hood secondary latch the one you are speaking of or primary latch on the body ?
If secondary, that one is fairly stout, how bad did you brake it ? Picture ?

It's the outside lever under the grille. I was changing out the grille and the bolts snapped off. It appears to be bolted to the grille itself

I went through this. Mounting screws just spun inside the plastic. I was replacing my grill anyway so mine came out with a broken piece of grille with it. I took small grinder wheel to it. Cut the bolts off if you need to, to remove the lever from the grill. Slowly cut away plastic to get the nuts out. Wrap duct tape around what is left to make a mold. Then fill with epoxy. There should be enough original material left so you can line up some new nuts. M6 nuts I think they are. I had to grind the edges off the nuts a little to get them to fit. I screwed a bolt through them and pressed them in place while the epoxy was still wet. After it dried for an hour I unscrewed the bolts and the nuts stayed in place. The bolt also left a cavity behind the nut in the epoxy so the bolts had more travel. After it fully cured I pulled off the tape, shaped the rough stuff with a grinder, ran a tap through the holes slowly. Then painted it black. Still working fine months later.

Nice, I could never find the other parts of it anywhere. Never bothered to look for a the lever.
My project may read as complicated, but it really wasn't hard. Anyway, for $30 yeah just buy a new one.
