I haven’t seen anything this year. I bought a case of federal #2 last year after season at Walmart. I have noticed more ammo and reloading supplies popping up in places like Academy in the last week. Maybe Rogers sporting goods or wingsupply online? Good luck and let us know if you find any.

Will do. Rogers has nothing. Bought some Kent from them for an ok price a month ago and they had Fiocchi but out now. Hand gun ammo is coming down but not shotgun yet I guess.

I shoot carlson for ducks and turkey both, love em. Of course I’ve got buddies that swear by pattern master. I don’t think brand necessarily matters as long as the shells you are shooting pattern good. I have a tru glo turkey choke that shoots lights out on my old mossberg 500 as long as I shoot copper plated Winchester #4. I have had no issues with multiple brands and loads through my beretta A300 or mossberg 935 both with carlson tubes.

Briley here in both my Browning OU’s. Works for me. Kids shoot Patternmasters out of their Beneli semi-autos and kill ducks dead.

have you tried that hevi-steel? It’s just steel shot and sells for about $15/box.

My buddy drew a lottery blind on public land, but he’s out of town on business til Nov. He left me in charge of what looks like pretty much a total rebuild. So worth it though.

Not enough to have an opinion on it. Think it’s running 22+ a box from what I’ve seen. If I found it for 15$/box I’d buy a case or two.

Nice. So how’s that work down there? So nobody else can hunt it? Or is it free game after a certain time? No such thing up here.

It’s his for the season, but if he has not occupied by shooting light it’s fair game for that day. Lots of folks go “blind hopping” on public land. Especially during the week when most people are working.

Gotcha. Up here you can build a blind on public but have to put your name and number in it but it’s fair game whenever. So if someone beats you there, tough shit.

I am in a group in Tennessee and we had to rebuild a blind last year. It is a bunch of work but worth it for sure.

Only his for a year, correct. Do a "hot, fast and cheap" rebuild. As long as you don't fall thru the floor and it kills birds how nice does it need to be?

Floor was two layers thick of rotten osb. The walls were falling in because the floor and the joists were rotted through. I tore it all down and salvaged what dimensional lumber I could. Gonna take some work, but the taj mahal it won’t be.

I'm pretty sure OSB was not intended for a duck blind much less the floor.

I wish I had lease mates like you. I'm pretty sure in the almost 20 years we have had our lease I built all the blinds. It sure feel like I brush them ever year.

    Rogers has Federal 3” 2’s for a decent price for these days we’re in. Haven’t found better. 159$ a case. 1 1/8 1550fps

Just got started duck hunting this season. I love making duck poppers. Good stuff! I’d like to try duck breast on its own but probably like you it’s a little too gamey for me. What is this sauce you are talking about? I’m interested as I’d like to eat duck in just the form of a meat slab.

Native to Nashville but have grown up hunting Arkansas the last 20 years.

It’s been a slow season. January has been good to us with these cold snaps though. Here is my pup and some of my favorite pics from this season so far.

Properly cooked duck breast is delicious and not very gamey at all. Look into a book called “Duck, Duck, Goose” by Hank Shaw. I love every recipe in that book. The first part of the book is proper care of the meat and how to cook it, then the recipes start. There is also a recipe in one of the “Meateater” cookbooks for duck nachos and they are a fan favorite. Made them for Thanksgiving.

How did everybody’s season come out? My public land blind wound up not being on the “X”. Killed a bunch of wood ducks, but the big ducks just didn’t want it.

Also bought a lathe and started cutting my own barrels. Mostly as gifts to friends and family.

This old thread popped up. My newest dog, Wildrose Stetson, is a Kane pup (artificial insemination). He's just shy of 8 months now.

I was in line for that Kane litter before it was announced and I'm disappointed that I was excluded. Earlier last year we got a pup Wildrose Ziggy (Deke's grandson)

This Kane litter was born 6/11/21. As far as I know it was not listed or announced anywhere but I feel your pain. I was supposed to be on a Deke x Rosie some years ago that didn't work out. I hope things are going well with Ziggy. Wildrose Stetson is trying my patience as I type.

It was not on the list but I was on the phone with Danielle right before they had the meeting that Kane was going to be bred again. This alone shocked me because I know Kane had already passed, fortunately they saved some. I asked her specifically to be on the list and I was cut out. Anyway, I'm happy that you got one from this litter.
