I noticed recently my air doesn't seem to be blowing as cold as I remember. Going to give this test a shot later. I find the instructions don't really make sense. Specifically the point in yellow. How can that be either fine, or not fine?

Is it saying that item 6 is ideal?

Chances are its just the age of the o-rings around the dryer which need to be replaced. I had the dye put in to see where mine had a slow leak. A recharge showed it to be 1/2 full.

I'm not familiar with the AC system. Are these on the compressor? How hard were they to replace?

To do it yourself (which i havent done yet), you would have to pay to discharge the system, work on it for a day to replace the dryer (item in front of radiator with viewport) and then recharge it back up. Not every garage will do that for you, so ask around.

Thats assuming thats the only location of the slow leak. You could pay to charge it with the dye to see the leaks with an IR light. (thats all I've done)

I design multi story steel structures all day long. I can take a tiny little soil sample and tell you everything about its geography and it’s precise bearing capacity. I can even calculate the storm water runoff of a piece of developed vs. undeveloped land down to a gnats ass.

Air conditioning is wizardry to me. It’s a dark art and anyone who tries to convince me otherwise is a practitioner of black magic.

That being said, I did recharge my system recently with the help of my neighbor who has all the tools. It took us 3 tries and quite a few extra cans of refrigerant. He even explained his dark art in terms that I could almost understand. My point is, I’ll do my own 4wd swap; The next time this system needs a recharge, the Toyota dealership is getting my business.

When in the "Test Conditions"....you want no bubbles when compressor is engaged. "None" is not good if if Item 3 is present...."Sufficient" means it's making water(drain tube at firewall) and the Low Side plumbing, passenger side by head lights is cold to the touch...."too much" can cause no bubbles but Item 4 would be present.

    Yes on # 6

Not trying to convince you, but it's just a closed system pressurized with gas. The gas is compressed and expanded, causing it to collect and release heat, basically.

I think that's the best general explanation I was ever given.

So we’re kind sol on options for outer tre’s right? OEM considered the best option? I had read that saneiki 555’s we’re fine as long as you got the made in Japan ones. Trouble is I haven’t found a way to verify which ones you get. Some come from Japan, some come from Taiwan.

Glamping with the parents. A little warm out so no front cap window tonight. Cicadas are singing, the fire is burning, and the beer is flowing.

That’s actually a really good way of explaining it!
Refrigeration doesn’t cool anything, it technically removes the heat from the air or whatever, then carries that heat to the compressor and then goes thru a change of state where it can dissipate that heat from cooler air over the condenser and turn back into a sub cooled liquid which is ready for the next change of state at the evaporator where it starts all over!

Do any of y'all have desiccant packages for storage? I need a few, and not really sure what I need to look for. I found a "reusable" set. Unsure on longevity of "reusable" if thats even a thing with silica gel stuffs.
wisedry 50 Gram [6PACKS] Rechargeable Silica Gel Desiccant Packets Fast Reactivate Desiccant Bags Orange to Green indicating for Air Dryer Food Grade: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific

Haha I’ll see what stockpile I can send!
It’s late, but a ozone machine/deionizer machine is a great investment for cars and especially if you live where it’s damp.
I got a less than 100$ one from big gurl and use it often in the shweaty summer months, of specifically the other day when I forgot to take salsa out of the back seat to sell to coworkers-the electrician still wanted it.

Anyone know of a good source for the outer skids on our BGT's? Mine only has the large center skid. Getting ready to replace the splash shields in the fender wells and want to do it all at once.

I keep those bad boys anytime I buy something that they come in. I toss them in my toolbox, ammo boxes, storage cabinets, basically everywhere.
It gets so humid here, and my garage is sorta air-conditioned (the garage is under the bedrooms and adjacent the basement and another level), that I can get condensation inside my toolbox if I open the garage door and leave it open. So there are desiccant packs just everywhere.

If T2 doesn't take em all, I'll gladly take some as well. (I actually want to put a small pack in each gauge of the 911..among other places.)

I lived where the closest city was Montreal. That definitely would have been a clean truck up there.

But that other hole - right next to the one he patched. WTH? Guess annual inspection wouldn't see the hole hidden by the radiator.
