Back in the early 90's, that's the last time I had KFC. From then on it was Walt's Flavor Crisp Chicken, a Cumberland farms near me when I lived in DE or fried my own. Now Publix or fry my own. I still ask around who has the best Fried Chicken.

it’s ok - a bit overhyped in my opinion, I mean I like certain things there - and they do a good job of keeping them in high traffic areas and not ever letting a franchisee hurt the image of the chain - but nothing overly special overall

Popeyes - I swear it feels like they search out the crime maps for hot spots and place a franchise immediately in the vicinity of gang activity. Good food - but if I’m getting it - I gotta go UberEat’s / DoorDash and that hurts a little as it’s not “fresh” when it takes 45 minutes between store to my hand. No way I’d drive a new Tundra to the drive through without an expectation of being carjacked

    Church’s

If you want fast food chicken - here’s your go to. Again not the best chicken dinner I’ve ever had - but for fast food not bad. They might use the same real estate agent as Popeyes - but at least a few are in decent areas.

Boston Market (FKA Boston Chicken years ago)

Actually good if you still have one in your area - something different than the same old fried chicken fast food. Sides are actually edible too - KFC hasn’t been able to say that in decades.

Don’t do KFC, rather go to a Royal Farms gas station and get better chicken any day.

You just accurately described every 'Chick-Fil-A vs. Popeyes' meme I've ever seen. LOL

Korean fried chicken and Memphis style fried chicken sandwiches are really popular up here. And I would take korean chicken over KFC every day of the year.

I would love some Long John Silvers. They don't have them where I live but as a kid I inhaled that stuff, even the little crunchy crap in the bottom of the cardboard.

KFC was way better when I was a kid. I assumed it was my taste evolving as I aged.

Seems all the restaurants are getting McDonalds syndrome and cutting back on the flavor that made them famous.
Even Panda Express has ruined the Kung Pao chicken, Beijing Beef, etc. they claim there are people whining because they can’t eat it. I say, tell them to go eat at McDoo’s or Churches Chicken if you don’t like it.

It's been, what, a quarter century now since KFC was good? And for me, it's not the taste that changed, I still quite like the smell and taste of KFC. It's the quality of the chicken pieces, over time they became smaller, busted up and somewhat unrecognizable... and they used to have good sandwiches, those went downhill too.

Back in 2001 I began working and living in China. KFC is YUGE there. Back in the early 2000's China KFC was amazingly good. Perfect looking chicken, plump, excellent sandwiches, excellent sides. However, even in China KFC became complacent, back in 2019 we went to KFC in Shanghai and it was just as bad as USA KFC now.
And, the KFCs in China aren't updated and are beginning to look worse for the wear.

Here in WA State, we had a new Popeye's open near our home, and a Chick-fil-A not too far away too. We prefer both of these, or even Safeway/Albertsons fried chicken to KFC. My son is having a birthday party this weekend, his food request was a Popeye's smorgasbord.

Maybe I should thank them, but as a kid my parents never took us to Arby’s, Taco Bell. Every once in a while to KFC. My mom was a home economics teacher for 30 years so her food would always rule supreme. I know how to make some killer white sausage gravey for buttermilk biscuits because of her!
