Does the Sequoia Alternator bolt right up? I thought it required a lot of work.

I'm gonna nope right out of that one. Way too much work for extra amps. Props to those that do it though.

I agree if doing it without also doing other work.

If doing water pump and serpentine belt, though, it’s one re-pin and a bit of grinder time or this new bolt Dan speaks of. For an extra 50 amps on top of the stock 100? At a cost of $200 or so extra plus some time. That’s where it starts to make sense I think.

The JT’s apparently have stock 240 amp alternators. That’s rather badass.

Also, I had an alternator fail on me on the NJTP (F150). It’s not a super fun problem to have. At 20-25 years old I’d consider at least a refurb of the original if in good condition. They do wear down over time.

Yeah, and from the experience I had when mine gave up, you don't want that. I'm lucky my truck didn't burn to the ground.

I think I'm going to order a reman Denso soon. It's only $157 after rebate or $123 if I send my old one back.

What leafs are you going with? I want to get new ones as well and ditch the blocks that came with my truck. Have only mildly researched leafs as other things are more exciting to dream about.

And to be clear, the $200 ballpark included the “big 3” part. The sequoia alternator itself was $125 refurbished and then a $6 new pigtail for the signal connections. That plus grind an ear off and it’s plug and play.

Sure, more pressure if the load is increased. But not just because you got different tires.

I used the 3M kit and they came out real nice. This kit didn't come with any clear so I bought the only thing Advance Auto had, a can of Duplicolor spray clear. Not sure what I did wrong. Hopefully wet sanding and buffing after it cures will make them nice.

Corners have to come off first. One plastic screw above the headlamp, then pop out. Then the headlamps are in with 3 nuts and one screw I think.

Don't follow @mbreed2 's directions. (Nothing personal, but that video sucks, this can be done w/o prying anything!)

The directions in my Chilton manual were much easier and less chance of breaking clips or chipping paint, IMO.

Don't bother popping wires off. Just loosen the top bolt, 1st bolt 1A-Auto shows.

Once that's out, Chilton's manual told me to stand next to the front tire, and with a constant forward motion, palm-slap-push the turn signal forward to jog it loose from the headlight. Disconnect the corner lamp if necessary (I set mine to the side)

Once the corner lamp is out, remove the other three screws, 2 close to the grille, one behind the turn signal housing, and the headlight slides right out. Remove any necessary cables.

Reinstall is opposite: install headlight, install three lower screws. Install turn signal, snapping into slot on the slot on the headlamp. Secure it up top.

If you need to adjust the headlights (i.e. you're replacing w/new housings or w/LED bulbs), there's a hole next to the tpo fastener where you can insert an 8" Phillips screwdriver #2 or #3 head size, and adjust the headlight up/down. Look closely, you'll see it. It goes down to a toothed cup washer, that's what the screwdriver head engages.

Oof, I didn't have to pry anything. But slapping them forward is probably easier. I did have trouble getting that corner lense tab out from under the fender. Still those are the fasteners you need to remove.

I will add , with caution....too much of palm-slap and that thing will fly across the garage. Yep, a week later and I had new one from McGeorge in the mail

Oh man. Good point. Yeah, just a 1" forward palm-slap is more than sufficient. This isn't baseball or golf, no major follow-through is required

Thanks for mentioning that, @BubbaW !

EDIT: I guess I should mention, not much slapping or force is required either. Best to start light and slowly step up the force. For me, my fingers couldn't get any grip on the edge where the fender meets the vertical edge of the housing.

Pretty sure after 17 years the adhesive was probably failing but not something I really wanted to find out....oh well. Up side is I went ahead and ordered both sides, made it look better with the @SouthPaw new Halo project !

It's an old 'vehicle equipped with a remote start' but it's been disabled. I just need to pull that unsightly sticker off.

Still thinking of the ATS HD ones as their customer support states they will add 1-1.5" inches of lift which should account for the blocks. I still need to buy the correct u-bolts and saddles and hardware whatnots.

True...I guess I'm changing my thoughts on this and will follow what's on my door sticker.

Technically. Sequoia 03-04 have different airbag connectors. That’s all I can remember
