Had a new compressor installed last fall on my 2013 4.6L Tundra. AC will blow cold and randomly the light will start flashing. I recently replaced the relay (Autozone) and still get the same results. AC blows cold and will randomly start flashing, sometimes within 5min and sometimes it will work for 2hr ride no problem. Any thoughts on what it could be would be appreciated.

Sounds like a ground wire issue

When I bought my 02 it had the same issue, previous owner recently had the TB changed and they forgot to hook up the ground from the A/C.

I took a look at the ground. Pretty corroded but seems to be solidly attached.

Maybe that's why, losing proper connection because of rust, i would spray some wd40 just to be sure

Full disclosure, I don't own a 2nd gen nor have I ever set foot in one but I have seen the flashing ac light on older toyotas. On my 96 Camry the ac light would start flashing and cutting off AC when the refrigerant was getting low until it finally all leaked out then no more AC. Heard it had something to do with the clutch not spinning at the same speed as the belt/engine.
On my 08 Lexus I got the flashing light after going through a puddle once.
    Good luck.

That's not what a good ground looks like.

I had an '03 Suzuki XL_7 that had the flashing A/C light. No one (including Suzuki techs) could tell me the cause. Charge was good, never had a problem with cooling so I let it be until I sold it about 2 years later. I loved that truck!

I agree, definitely not the best ground. I’m going to clean it up this afternoon.

I replaced the mag clutch relay.

The mag clutch relay is a problem in all Toyota’s. II’ve had to replace them in my RAV4, Highlander, and Camry.

I’m not sure you can buy the mag clutch relay from autozone - although they may have one that fits - when I had that problem in my 4Runner I learned it is a special high current relay or something and I ended up ordering a used oem one from eBay.

I cleaned up the ground and and tested the relay to no avail. I had noticed it would seem to work more consistently while driving and was for more likely to shut down while at idle. We hooked it up to get the code and turns out the compressor is fine but the lock sensor went bad at 13 months. Ended up grabbing an OEM compressor from the local Toyota dealer and its working as it should now.
