I agree, thats why I kind of want to switch to the Lunar. I love the color and am a little put off by the delays on the MGM. but like I said I don't want to find out they are cutting production if I switch to the lunar.

I have been buying all my Yota's from Balise in Springfield Ma for over 15 years now and most of the staff I know and deal with have been there for well over a decade. They are the second largest Toyota dealership by volume in the New England area. I have been told by them that Toyota is being very tight lipped about timing but my perception is that the "predictability" is a relative roll of the dice IMO. They haven't had a new model change since 2014 and that was minor so for all intents and purposes since 2008 with the Tundras. I would imagine with all the pandemic dynamics and such they will want to disperse as much of these trucks as they can to a reasonable extent. But as they say the only guarantees in this life are death and taxes.

Everything I've read says that Toyota doesn't build them unless they have all the parts available, unlike Ford as an example which has huge parking lots of trucks waiting on chips.

I'd take the shot and go with the Lunar Rock myself.

Most manufactures try to build lot of old model right before production stops so there's enough inventory to tie over until the new models are in full production.

There's still chip shortage, the modules right now are short on are the ones controlling auto-braking.

I had mine ordered a month ago and just found out last week they canceled. I wanted a 21. Finally found the one on CarVana, 21, Limited, Calvary Blue, TRD package, running boards, spray on bed liner, running boards, and a safe!. The best part it only had 4950 miles.

They had the sheet of vehicles due to them, and I selected one far out so they could change the color. Well, they apparently couldn’t and didn’t have the balls to tell me until I called and pressed the issue and They finally caved and said it was canceled. I had paid then too!

The LR is such a great color. If I were you, I’d try to switch. MGMs are dime a dozen, the LR is a head turner. I’m kicking myself every time I see one, I wish I would have held out for one. Just my opinion, but my opinion is kinda facts. :)

Just a friendly reminder that this thread is in the Canada section. Things may be different for our Mexico touching friends.

I love that whole Vermont-Maine-NH corner, I recall the crossing from Quebec outside of Sherbrooke into Vermont was just a tiny little shed.

It seems your dealer expect to have enough allotments but later to find out they didn't.

On earlier posts I mentioned toyota and their distributors don't really take orders like gm, they can say they want this and that, but often toyota would say ok, if we build it and there's enough of it, you can have it, but you may not.

    ah jeeezzz!
I ordered a 21 limited double cab a few weeks ago. Build date near the end of the month. I'm scared to death they're going to cancel it on me. I don't want a 22!

Anyone know when 21 production absolutely ends?

Not sure, I've heard many different scenarios tossed around. I wish we had access to that back end the dealerships have :) Would love to see the production dates move around

Still on track as October as final runs, the exact end date is fluid but will be the last 2 weeks of October.

You should be OK, if it helps, I'll briefly explain how these dates work.

    - Each OEMs will assign an estimate amount of VIN#s to certain models, they may not build all of them, or they may not have enough, but they generally have an estimate at the beginning of a program.
    - the vin that was given to you, is matched based on what you had bought, so because dealers now do not have enough inventory, they enter into the system and bam, you get it, so its like your baby, sometimes it may have already being partially built, or not built, or in process of being build.
    - The build date is an estimate, but generally its a 2-3 weeks window.

Reason I say it should be ok is because we just saw memo about production cut in September, but that should begin after your build date, they just announced 40% global production cut for September due to chip shortage.

Yes, here is the story regarding the September cut:
    https://www.reuters.com/business/au...n-due-global-chip-shortage-nikkei-2021-08-19/
Looks like Toyota has finally depleted its semiconductor stock and is dropping production of vehicles by 40% (360,000 vehicles) in September.

There's going to be idling coming up from all the memos I see, which sucks but they are working it out.

just got off the horn with my dealer. Standard "don't worry, its still showing up as scheduled to be built ".

I'll believe it when I see it in my driveway.
    I'm so bummed.
