Hey guys! New to the forum, coming over from Tacoma world. Just bought my 2012 Tundra crewmax. I'm looking to get some led low and high beam bulbs but wondering what the best ones to get might be that won't cost a ton. I'm planning on getting the Alpharex eventually but want a nice upgrade from halogen until then. Glad to be a part of the Tundra world!

    buy once cry once imo.
skip the LEDs in the halogen housings and get some replacement headlights already.
alpharex with LED bulbs would be the cheapest but I would just get the Morimotos LEDs that are a bit more.

Second the buy once cry once. Just remember, your lights sit higher than most vehicles and the ppl driving towards you at 60mph don't need their retinas cauterized.

I agree with the “buy once, cry once” as well. I started with LEDs in the stock housings and it was a little better but not much. Next, I went with Alpharexs which were a huge improvement but lacked the overall look I was going for because of the dim DRL bars. I ultimately ended up with the 2018+ Sequoia headlights and couldn’t be happier. They are the look I’m going for but also have a great beam pattern. If you are stuck on LED bulbs, I had good luck with the hikari ultra bulbs. Just my 2c. Good luck on whatever decision you decide.

Do you have a good source for getting the Sequoia LEDs? They're like $1,000 new. Wondering if you know a hack for pricing, lol.

I went on Ebay daily and lowballed everyone with a headllight that was in good shape. I ended up scoring one for $250 and one for $300. Definitely worth the upgrade, for sure!! Good luck with the decision.

I agree with others. LED bulbs in the halogen reflective housings are not the best. I was constantly being flashed by oncoming cars due to the beam pattern being uncontrollable. They were a whiter light than the halogen but really not much better projection due to the housings.
I ended up with Morimoto XB and can't believe the difference in beam distance and pattern. No flashing from oncoming cars.

    Lots o’ mods
Morimotos are worth every penny. I get compliments on them all the time, and the light output is fantastic. Installation is ridiculously easy, too.

I installed Sealight VLED’s in all my cars after seeing how well they did in my Tundra. I’ve yet to be flashed and my wife and kids have been very happy with the light output, especially on dark rainy nights. None of them have said they have been flashed either. My father-in-law was so impressed he had me install them in his 2012 Corolla and said he feels much more comfortable driving at night and he’s 88 years old. I’m sure they work better in the housings they are intended for, but don’t see any difference with the VLED’s in my Tundra compared to my 2019 Explorer which is my company car.

Sealight and VLED are in fact 2 different companies that make completely different quality LEDs

I guess they are just LED, but I’m very happy with them. Much brighter than any Sylvania, Philips, or Hella bulb I’ve ever bought
