On my 2007 Tundra the dealer disabled the passenger side seat chime after claiming they couldn't. Now I have a 2021 and it's the same story; they claim it's against the law. Does anyone know if this is correct or bs like in 2007?

Some owners manuals tell you how to disable it supposedly. I've never looked though.

Used to be you could do it yourself by a combination code of turning the ignition on and off and clicking the seatbelt in and out a bunch of times or something. I was able to turn off my '07 Tacoma's seatbelt chime that way. But at some point they stopped making it available in that way and now you need to do it with a computer.

As far as it being against the law, that's nonsense. My dealer will still do it, but they want like $150 for the job. Many here have bought the software and done it themselves I believe.

    Just getting started

It does....and doesn't solve the problem...

For OP, maybe. I checked the thread as I live and work on a farm. I don't buckle up every time I want to cross the magical threshold and do 15 mph on a farm path...but I gotta hear the dinging.

Same for when I hit the beach during the summer or hunting paths in the fall and winter. Don't need a seatbelt at 15, but the ding still rings. I don't need a reminder!

If I go on the road, yep I buckle, Everytime. But these replacement or faux buckles would be just as annoying to click in and out. I just want to disable it. I know when I need it and when I don't.

The easiest solution is to buy a dongle with techstream and shut it off yourself.

I have got the cable (J2534) and Techstream ver. 16. I finally got it running but I can't find any way to modify anything.
If anyone know how I would be forever grateful. It is a PIA to get running.

Finally got it going, seat belt chime is no more! But I don't think I could do it again if my life depended on it.
