Does the V3 guide allow use of the fog light switch to turn the fogs on or off regardless of what state the headlights are in? That part was a little unclear if you can still turn them off, or will the be on all the time with ignition.

Edit. Looks like it may only work on 2007 and 2008.

Might have to go at this myself using the several write ups for Toyotas. I want to have the fog light switch turn the fogs on and off anytime, but can only be powered on with ignition

Has there been any write up on using aftermarket push button switch with factory relay?

Did you confirm if one could still make use of the factory Foglight Switch when wanting dogs to be on when factory switch is engaged? I tried V1 and the dogs were always on no matter what...I'd rather not have it setup that way as I'm more function over fashion train of thought...

Got this done on my '15 Pro today. Worked great using the EddieV1 attachment and the photos in post #64.
The fogs turn on independently of the headlights as long as the parking lights are on. High beams don't impact the fogs, as promised in the OP's post.

This may be an old post, but it worked great for me none the less. Thank for the info!

If I have the Fortin Auto-Start, will this mod work? I've heard a lot of people saying that the "no cut method" causes issues with the fog lights and running lights not turning on.

Don't want to go digging into the wires if it wont work, but haven't found a definitive answer.

Just did this mod last weekend and zero issues. Works just as advertised! I did it to my 14 CM Platinum and my buddy did his 15 CM sR5. Take your time and really study the pictures of the wires and harnesses posted in this thread and you can't go wrong. Let me add, I've got Morimoto xb fogs in my truck and my buddy has 2 sets of rigid pods in his.

Has anyone successfully completed the jumper style mod, on a 2018 Platinum? I went to perform the mod this morning, but the J3 connector at the main ECU is doesn’t have a pink wire in the location shown, and doesn’t have a wired at pin #28. See attached pictures for reference. any help appreciated.

Ahhh the ILLUSIVE GREY WIRE !!!

I just wanted to follow up on 16' 2016 Tundra just because the info is so scattered.... and to clarify for others... (Yes I know ot has been covered many times but it took me forever to find, so maybe this can save somebody some time).

Thank you mtTundra for pointing out the grey / gray wire.!!!!! That was the thing I needed....

Thanks to the original Eddie for the mod. Thank you csuViper for pointing out the pink wire. Thank you everybody else here. This all helped me from getting out my multimeter and tinkering.!!!

So just to consolidate, what you need to do is jump the pink and grey wires together, either by de-pinning or cutting and splicing. Please for the love of God do not cut. But also if depinning it, lable it!!! (Or that might be worse than cutting it) ! Mark the connector where it goes back in to.... I used a marker and color coded zip tie stuck into the hole....

    **************

*The gray / grey wire plug is behind the kick panel. (This is the relay side).

*The pink wire plug is behind lower dash panel in the middle of the cluster on the right. (This is the switch side).

    *** For grey wire:
The Grey connector block with the big yellow wire is what you want, the grey wire is the 3rd from the top left. (Kick panel).

    *** For pink wire:
The white middle connector with the pink wire at BOTTOM RIGHT is what you need. The pink wire AT the bottom right is the one you want. (Behind lower dash panel, 2 10mm bolts at bottom).

    ***************

De-pin and jump the grey to pink. You can depin by popping up the retainer clip and using a small pick to push the flat hole on the face and gently pull the wire....

The wires are not heavy gauge as they are just (-) to a relay coil. 20awg should be perfectly fine. Strip it back about 1" and tightly wrap around the de-pinned connector. Cover with heat shrink tube to finish. This way you can slice off the heat shrink and repin the connector if you ever need to....

I made a connection between the jumper simply for testing and removal if needed. You do not need to make a disconnect, I just thought it may be a good idea in the future.

Pics of OP and others attached. Pic of mine also attached. Thank you all!

Again, all credit goes to the above users, and more. I just wanted to make my own 2 cents known... Grey, gray ? Who cares....

    P.S.
    Ohh, one last thing. Function:
What this is acomplishing is bypassing the ecu/computer and wire the switch directly to the relay. (The switch is wired to the computer, and the computer decides when it wants to output to the fog light relay. By jumping the gray and pink you bypass the computer).

The relay power is still switched, as stock, with lights. Meaning you can only turn on fogs with parking lights or headlights on. I did not test DRL as I deleted mine. They are not "always on" like the relay jumper, and can be turned on off. Just remember, all this is doing is taking the "middle man" AKA Computer out of the circuit ....

    * Pink wire is the switch side. Grey wire is the relay side. It is closing a (-) ground to the relay coil. (Stock switch feeds pink wire into ECU. ECU outputs grey wire to fog light relay. Skip the ECU by jumping pink to grey).

    * Could you jump pink to grey by sticking a jumper into the back of the connectors and not cutting or depinning? Yes most likely. HOWEVER, without knowing how the ECU switches the ground (Micro relay or Transistors / circuit) there is always a POSIBILITY you could damage or short out the ECU if somehow the ground backfed through the circuit or transistor. I am no electronics expert by any means so I could be wrong, just cautious. (Just like the alternate ALWAYS ON relay jumper mod, where you can ground the (-) coil side to headlight relay (-) [to bypass the ECU AND SWITCH], without bending the tab, or using another added relay to isolate the return path, again there is a possibility of backfeeding or damaging ecu behind transistor circuit IMO). Off topic. Sorry. :)

Edit: I also assume that you could acomplish having fogs on with brights on most anything by bypassing the BRIGHT LIGHT SWITCH from ECU, the same as this mod, therfor not letting the ECU ever know the brights were turned on.... This might disable the indicator light though but should work....

    P.P.S.
So I was wondering "where IS the fog light indicator?" So I wired the switch side into the ECU pink wire and still no light.... so I put it back stock and still no light. Then I realized, wow, duhh. IT NEVER HAD A FOG LIGHT INDICATOR LIGHT IN THE FIRST PLACE... Wtf. :-/ lmao ! I could be wrong, again, but I do not remember one and it dang sure doesn't have one now, even wired stock....

    P.p.p.p.p.p.s. edit:
Sorry for not detailing with better pics, I wasn't planning on posting until afterwards... I also did reroute the covered jumper wire but I left the original pics just for the plug location reasons....

Nice and clean,so are they ALWAYS on or can they be toggled on with and without the headlights being on? Like the 1st gen fog lighy mod, I personally prefer being able to toggle on/off regardless of being headlights on / DRL on / all off, on the headlight stalk...can you confirm how it functions as there are 4 different versions of said "Fog light Mod?" :hattip:

Grey to pink you have to at least have drl on. At least with my ‘15. So with lights on or drl you can turn fogs on/off.

looking into doing the Eddie V1 mod to my 2017... does the mod cancel the orange amber’s?
i’ve seen mods where snipping the grey wire disables the amber DRL.

does the Eddie V1 allow you to toggle the Fogs On -N- Off with the original switch on the turn signal lever?

It did not “cancel” my drls. You can turn fogs on and off as long as at least running lites are on.

Thanks. Used Eddie V1 to do this on my '08. I had though about it before, but remembered it this morning and decided to use break in the rain to get it done. Took about 20 minutes, but that includes soldering and heat shrinking all connectors.
Very nice to be able to use fogs with just running lights on so I don't blind the road crew or log truck drivers.

The "V1" won't work on the 2020/2021 the same way. The wiring of the fog light relay changed, and doing it to the 2020/2021 trucks will make them on all the time if the fog light switch is on (including with the truck turned off).

Is there a mod for the 2020-2021 to keep them on with the high beams? I figured you of all people would know based on all the wiring you did with your truck:)

I haven't had time to investigate it too deeply. From what I've been able to tell from how the power is supplied to the fog relay in the 2020/2021, it would require dissecting the main engine fuse box to re-wire, or would require the "bend and tap" method that I'm not really a fan of.

So, instead, I've been leaning toward just wiring in auxilary lights up front but haven't settled on what I want yet. The good news is that in the 2020/2021, the changes they did to the fogs does allow them to be on with just the driving lights (which was not the case previously).

Figure out what is causing that fuse to blow before anything else. I’m not familiar with the morimoto LEDs, but sound like either they pull more current than the stock halogen bulbs (and your wiring is undersized) or they have a short somewhere. You’re gonna need to resolve that.

I've got XB fogs in my 14. They definitely don't draw near as much current as factory bulbs do and I leave them on while driving all the time. Got a short somewhere for sure
